1703 St Clair is right next to Macalester College and a block from Snelling and the coffee / restaurant rich Grand Street. The location is very walkable. A queen sized bed and bedroom with a full shared bathroom, dining, sun room and retro kitchen. Cozy, restored 1895 building with built-ins and old hardwoods just 5 miles from Minneapolis uptown or downtown. Close to MN fair state grounds...host will drop you to the fair. You will be sharing a bathroom and host occupies the second bedroom.

Great place to stay for visiting Macalester. Rupinder is a wonderful host -- he's the perfect combination of laid back and attentive. I'll definitely stay here again!

Rupinder is very friendly and helpful and will be an excellent Airbnb host. However, he seems to have started to rent out rooms too early or maybe he isn't sure of what is expected as a host. His personal items were in the bathroom and all around the house. there was a mouse in the kitchen and apparently a bat the week before. He came to the room at 11:45 at night banging on the front door which I had chained locked for the evening. I did not know that he, a single man, would be staying with me, a lone woman, in the house. I did not have a lock on my door and although there were not any problems and he was a gentleman, I did not sleep well and was uncomfortable about the situation. The house itself is clean and easy to get to on a quiet street

Hi Stacey - I am so sorry you had an unpleasant experience. To be fair, the listing did say that you will have access to one of the bedrooms and that the bathroom is shared. You had indicated there was some mouse and I had assured you that there was none, but as luck would have it, a bat did enter the home a week before through an open window which beats me, and I was transparent enough to share this amusing story. I slept one night at the place when you were there as i was to travel to Florida next day and you had access to the entire home for the rest of your stay. In my email communications, I had mentioned to you that I am most likely will be getting my kid for dinner from 6 to 8 pm which I didnt. You putting the latch was a bit unfortunate as I was locked out and when you did open after a few rings, you were apologetic. In any case, I am taking your feedback in putting a lock on the second bedroom door. I am sorry you had a bad experience. here is my email correspondence with you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Stacey - I trust you had a pleasant stay....please leave the key in 1703 mailbox when you leave Thanks Rupinder Last Sunday at 8:12 AM Message from Rupinder Hi Can you open the latch....I can't come in Thanks Aug 30, 2017 Message from Rupinder Please feel free to call me at (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) or text me if you have any questions or need anything. Thanks Aug 30, 2017 Message from Rupinder All these are close by. I have to leave, so i will keep the keys in the 1703 mailbox in a white envelope and will hopefully see you in evening if you are home. You room is on the right. Please feel free to get some refreshments (there is tea & coffee in the cabinets and sparkling water in fridge). I may have my kid with me from 6 to 8 pm but will mostly be out rest of the week. This is a comfortable flat (with gorgeous original woodwork) in a lovely area, very close to Macalester and all the great shops in that area. Quiet neighborhood, good restaurants within walking distance, easy access to mass transit, a low-stress 30 minute train/bus ride from the airport. Minneapolis is only 3 miles away. Easy access to the river, Minnehaha Creek and Falls. Host is a generous and delightful man. No AC, if that is important to you in summer - not an issue when I was there. I lay for an hour each morning listening to glorious songbirds outside the window.

We booked Rupinder's place for my father-in-law's visit. He loved it and said he wished he could've stayed much longer. Great location, great apartment, and friendly host!
