I maintain our beautiful family home, built in 1907, in the University Area of Syracuse, New York to a high standard. I am offering to rent one spare room in the house to a professional person for a full year. The room is completely furnished. It has a clothes closet, empty book-shelves, two chests of drawers, a long antique refectory table/desk, a bed (incl. linens, quilts etc.), and two windows with nice views.
Ours is a hill-top home, one flight above street level. There are aesthetic advantages in the site and practical disadvantages but we have enjoyed our quiet perch, proximity to the University and hospitals, direct access to Thornden Park, our own tasteful garden and perhaps above all, our truly wonderful neighbors. Our own home has a strong academic flavor and many of our neighbors are involved in education as well as being people who are dedicated to community well-being.
I am happy to share the kitchen and other amenities of the house, including laundry facilities but I am very tidy and will prefer to share things with another person who is careful about cleanliness and respectful of the household in general. I have ample supplies of cooking and serving things, a large, cheerful, attractive kitchen with plenty of doors and window. Everything in it is in excellent condition though not necessarily modern in style. Other rooms tend to reflect earlier times. The house was built in 1907.

Échanges avec les voyageurs
I am away a great deal, but would be available by email. You would have the house to yourself much of the time; there will be no other tenants.
I ask guests to take down the trash and recycling to the street each week and to shovel the front steps during winter, when I am not home. Guests will be expected to clean up after themselves when I am away.
- Book for one year

I am a retired teacher and widow of a professor of history. I live alone but have two grown children and four grandchildren who visit occasionally. I am an active person who travels frequently, sometimes for months at a time, in order to maintain family and social connections, pursue interests in theater and art, and carry on research projects in the arts.
