COVID CHANGES:

Hello guests

Covid has changed a lot of things in our lives and it is important that you, our cleaners, our community and ourselves remain healthy and safe. We have been shut down since middle of March and are now ready to carefully reopen. While we work to make sure that you have the best possible experience here, please check our website (aguanortemn) for the full description of our requirements to you and read below what is expected from you before your arrival. Let us know if you have any questions.

1. All guests are required to bring their own pillows, blankets, fitted and top sheets, pillow cases, bath towels, hand towels, kitchen towels and any other items you may need during your stay. There will NOT be linens available in the cabin.

2. All guests are required to dispose their own garbage. A garbage can will be located behind the cabin. (Unfortunately the local recycling center facility has very limited hours so we will not collect recycled items at this time).

3. A spray bottle with bleach solution will be on the kitchen counter. Please use it at check-in (if you would like), and also before check-out. The areas suggested to be wiped down are: kitchen countertop, table top, door knobs, light switches, tv remote, faucets. Please DO NOT spray any wooden or fabric areas.

Please let us know of any other cleaning suggestions that you may have and would like us to ask our guests to implement before your stay.

We look forward to hosting you!

Simone and Andrew

The cabin is located in a 10 acre parcel, nested in between evergreen trees and gorgeous Lake Superior. The property is full of wild life, birds, butterflies, wild flowers and wild berries. It is the perfect spot for a couple looking for a romantic and peaceful getaway, or a single person in search of quietude.

The 16'x20' cabin was built in 2014. The white pine timbers that compose the frame were locally and sustainably logged, sawed and treated by us, the owners. It has 8 huge windows and a cathedral ceiling, making this tiny home very airy, elegant and modern. The open loft has a huge skylight for stargaze and it can be accessed by a ships ladder. It has been designed with 2 people in mind, and although we don't encourage more than two, it can accommodate a party of 4 in a very cozy way.

The kitchen has full size appliances, doug fir cabinets, blue quartz countertop and a black walnut bar top with two bar stools. It is a beautiful place to cook your meals and enjoy the lake view. It has a fridge and freezer, 4 burner electric stove with oven, coffee maker, blender and all needed cooking and baking utensils.

There is a TV and DVD player on the loft, and a TV with an Apple TV in the living room. Please bring your own credentials to access channels on Apple TV.

The bathroom is truly spa like: beautiful, spacious and airy. It has cedar wood paneling, beach pebble shower floor, a white vessel sink and two closets. A washer and dryer set are also located in the bathroom and available for guests to use. Please do read all instructions before using it.

Outside, the fire pit overlooks Lake Superior and the vegetable garden, and it is conveniently located by the picnic table. It is the perfect spot for an evening bonfire. The garden is located about 10 yards west of the cabin and you are welcome to pick veggies for your dinner. The watering hose is connected to the outside of the north wall of the cabin and we will access it whenever we are working the garden (If you enjoy gardening and would like to take care of it, by all means! Just let us know ;)

Oh, and keep an eye out for all the bald eagles! The big tall spruce tree on the edge of the cliff overlooking the lake is the hangout area for these beautiful birds. It is basically guaranteed that you will see one or a couple hanging out on the three and being harassed by crows and seagulls.

Accès des voyageurs
Guests are welcome to access the entire cabin, deck, fire pit, charcoal grill, organic garden and grassy areas.

1. We try our best to clean up the driveway in the winter, but please be aware that it is very steep and it can be icy and slippery during (which can be anytime from October through April). We highly encourage that you access the cabin only with a 4/AWD vehicle. In the event that you can't make it up the driveway, you are fully responsible to remove your vehicle and free up the driveway immediately.

2. Please be mindful that we live full time at the property. Closeness to nature and solitude are a couple of the reasons why we chose to settle here and we will do our best to extend that to you during your visit; however, we do reserve the right to work, maintain and enjoy our home. We lead very busy lives, specially in the summertime, and are in and out of our home often. Our home is located behind the cabin, on the north side. The cabin's view of the lake and south facing deck are completely unobstructed and private. Please see photos for reference.

3. You may see us working the garden, mowing the lawn or working in the garage. Some of these will cause noise, such as woodworking tools or lawnmower. Also, the garden hose is attached to the north wall of the cabin and we will need to access it during spring and summer months.

4. The loft and west windows of the cabin face the driveway and you may see our (or, our visitors) headlights from time to time. We try our best to avoid that but it can happen.

5. There is an utility room and storage area in the crawlspace below the cabin that we may need to access at times. We do not need to enter the cabin if/when we need to access it.

6. We do reserve the right to enter the cabin if we ever find a reason to do so. (It has never happened and we hope it never will.)

7. The Northwoods is full of wildlife and bugs. Please be respectful of the animals you will see on the property. Spring and Summer are heavy bug season and you will have to deal with mosquitos, occasional spiders and flies. We do what we can to minimize flies around the cabin during fly season, but some years are worse than others and they may come regardless of our efforts.

8. We have a very friendly dog named Lua that you may see outside chasing birds and butterflies.

9. Although you cannot see the highway from the cabin, you may hear traffic noise.

10. For your safety, please be extremely cautious when accessing the loft and while using it. The ladder is very steep and will require body awareness and caution. Sitting on the loft railing is absolutely not allowed.

Simone was born and raised on the south shores of Brazil and Andrew is a true born Grand Marais local (with the red beard and all). Long story short, we met while traveling, got married and moved back to Andrew’s hometown where we built our home. We love sharing our little slice of Lake Superior's north shore with our guests. Traveling has been and will always be a natural and constant piece of our journey as a couple. We still have many places in our bucket list and many plans to cross them off soon. It has been a beautiful trip to meet and host travelers through AirBnB and we hope this community will continue as strong and tight, for many years to come. - Simone, Andrew and Lua

Durant votre séjour
Although our house is behind the cabin, the cabin is absolutely private.

You may see us lounging on the grass, playing with our dog Lua, working on our land or tinkering around the garage. We love meeting new people but we do respect your privacy and we enjoy ours too.

We are available if you have any questions about the property or if you would like to share a cup of coffee and talk north shore :)
