Camping (glamping) made easier. Bell tents all ready for you just to walk into, dump your bags and pour yourself a cold drink after your journey. Located on a small-holding in West Dorset 2 miles from Charmouth and surrounded by hills and woods, there's loads to do in the area or just relax by your tent with a good book.

Le logement

There will be 5 bell-tents in total on the field which looks straight down to the sea. A really wonderful view - better than in the pictures which can't really capture the fullness of it. Each tent can come with either 2 camp beds plus futon mattresses, or up to 3 futon mattresses on the floor. Let me know when you book what you want. There's no charge for camp beds or mattresses. You do need to bring your own bedding, towels etc. There's a hot shower/wet room in a reclaimed beach hut and a washing up area. This is a small farm currently with sheep and lambs, a small young apple orchard and a vegetable area. We recently got permission for our proper farm buildings which is very exciting. This is the first year we've opened up for any camping - its such a beautiful spot it feels right to share it.

Accès des voyageurs

The camp site is on an 8 acre field. The bottom corner of the field, where our sheds and equipment are, we'd rather guests didn't come into that bit and especially no un-accompanied children. Its a working area, lots of farm equipment etc.
There is produce for sale - award winning apple juice, sausages from our own pigs (they're in the freezer in my house a few miles away so will need a bit of notice for these), elderflower cordial and elderflower champagne, and at the moment lots of beetroot! Other crops on the garden coming along.

Échanges avec les voyageurs

I don't live on site but will be around on and off. If you need me best to get hold of me by phone.

Autres remarques

Its an off-grid site, with compost loos. There are sheep on the site (inside an electric fence) so if you have a dog who very 'interested' in sheep this might not be the best camp site for you! Some of the sheep will come and eat out of your hands which is really sweet.

Mary's field is idyllic, the tents lovely. The shower in the beach hut is fantastic, lovely hot water and plenty of room especially if you have children. The view is outstanding and the stars are amazing. Mary's field is peaceful and quiet away from it all. Mary is on hand makes sure that everything is in order and that you're happy, communication was brilliant. My boys loved it....I loved it and made some fantastic memories. Thank you Mary for letting us share your field and view.

Mary was very helpful when I was trying to find somewhere to stay in the area, as we'd never been and I was planning a surprise for my husband's birthday. The location was amazing, so quiet and peaceful! The sheep in the field were very sweet to watch. It was so dark at night, with no light pollution, which was fantastic! We enjoyed sitting out and soaking up the stillness each night! It was my husband, our 8 year old daughter and myself, and the tent was big enough for the 2 days we stayed. I think if we'd stayed longer we may have struggled with storage space for clothes and food etc, but I'm sure a gazebo or such would solve that. The tent was great, very comfy and protected (despite the horrendous weather on Sunday!). I'm fairly sure that with the wind and rain from the hurricane, we would have been soaked in any other tent, but everything was bone dry inside the bell tent - most impressive. The shower was also amazing, such great water pressure, clean, lovely and warm. I would recommend bringing nice warm sleeping bags, because it is quite chilly at night in the field. I'd also recommend that you arrive for the first time in daylight to set up and get acquainted with the area.

Had a brilliant stay in Mary's field. Tent was lovely. Bit snug for 3 but fine if you all get on well. :) Amazing view (especially of the stars at night!). Loved the composting loo and shower in a beach hut. Only a 30 minute walk to the coast and then the whole beautiful coast path is yours. Would definitely recommend. Thanks Mary!

Fantastic stay at Mary's beautiful bell tent. Everything was wonderful about the stay; from Mary's super kind and helpful communication before we arrived, the super clean and characterful bell tent (complete with wild flowers), campsite facilities (including a superb shower room) and a perfect location overlooking the lovely countryside and sea. Could not have been better - thoroughly recommended! David

I'm very much an out-doors type. I have my small farm which I love and am also a gardener.
I love walking and swimming in the sea.
I think community is very important - its good to have people around - chatting, working, eating together. And also peace and quiet.
I'm a mum, 2 kids - currently 24 and 12.
