The house has several sitting and reading areas and a desk for a computer. The house and neighborhood are quiet - perfect for a writer's retreat! PLEASE NOTE - there is WiFi but no TV nor cable TV, please bring a laptop to access any media.

The adobe helps to keep the home cool in summer and warm in winter although there are wall heaters, crackling fireplace and working wood stove. Parking, private yard and history! There are lots of trees, birds and other various wildlife to be seen or heard all around.

We ask that no candles or incense be burned for safety reasons.
No Smoking in house - if you do smoke outside, please dispose of your cigarette butts in a trash, please do not throw them in the flower beds or on the patio. We do not supply ashtrays - please bring one with you if you need to smoke outside. No tobacco products anywhere in the house, this includes 'chew'. Although tobacco users may not notice smell, non-tobacco users do.

Resident kitty, Jacamo, will visit. A guest, in a review, said that although he is allergic to cats, he wasn't to Jac. He may be hypo-allergenic but just in case, if you are highly allergic, please note that he likes to visit!

If you are a person that likes sanitized hotels and motels and has a hard time appreciating the character, history, adobe and an understanding of NM zoning laws, then this is not the listing for you. PLEASE read the first line of the listing. ADOBE (that means made out of mud) house. This is not your run of the mill, thrown together to rent out, saltillo tile floor spec house. This space has character, history - read the reviews!

Autres points à prendre en note
If you have more people than your original reservation is booked for, please notify host prior or upon check-in.

The cleaning fee does not include washing and drying of all used dishes and cookware.

We have a NO pet policy. The area does not have a fenced in area and there are livestock in the area.

The neighborhood is an established one with the anticipation of quiet so we ask guests to respect that by enjoying themselves but being mindful of our neighbors.

There can be a 40 degree difference in temperature in the fall and spring. Plan accordingly! We ask that guests turn off heat during the day and then turned on when return - house heats quickly. WE ASK THAT HEATERS STAY UNPLUGGED IN LATE SPRING/SUMMER.
Please open windows and doors for cross breeze.

Also, if you haven't experienced high altitude before, please prepare yourself by drinking lots of water on your flight and/or your drive to Taos.

Right now we have one chicken, Aretha who sometimes lays an egg a day or so and sometimes we don't due to critters, that's mountain life.

Lovely people, if you forget anything at the house, please let me know and I will give you our address and you may send me a package, addressed and stamped and it will be mailed to you.

Lastly, we are honored if you are staying in a long term situation. If you are staying over a week's time period and would like the house cleaned for you, there is an additional cleaning charge for each cleaning appointment. This will need to be worked out with host prior.

Arroyo Seco, Nouveau-Mexique, États-Unis

The home is situated between the northern edge of Taos Pueblo and grant land from five Spanish families. The neighborhood of El Salto de las Aquas (the fall of the waters) is close to Arroyo Seco, a 200 year old Spanish village. A short walk to the historical and quaint village for bagels and burritos, farm to table dinners, fresh made green drinks and a small organic grocery store. Local potters have their wares available as well as painters, a print shop, weavers, funky shops, antiques and jewelers. A pop up venue presents an ever-changing art scene. The village also hosts a live outdoor music series in the summer that has featured artists such as Trombone Shorty, Marcia Ball, Dumpstaphunk, Sierra Leone Refugee Allstars and many others.

My husband John and I are 30 year residents of Taos. We both moved here for our jobs (teaching) but also because of the outdoor opportunities, culture, and history. We have two kids who also enjoy all that northern New Mexico provides; skiing, snowboarding, hiking, biking, river rafting, live music and festivals. We love to travel and get to know the areas where we stay and we hope that by staying at our adobe, you'll meet people and enjoy the villages of Arroyo Seco, Taos Ski Valley and the big town of Taos.
