This cozy cottage overlooks the Redstone River as well as our private lake. It is a wonderful peaceful, private getaway on 5 acres beside the babbling river. This 4-season season cottage is spacious and comfortable, with a newly added screen veranda.

If you are looking for a quiet cottage surrounded by nature this is it!

Le logement
While the cottage overlooks our private lake, there is a lovely 'water hole' for swimming at the base of a small rapid on the Redstone River. The swimming hole is not suitable for small children or non-swimmers. It is very secluded, with only our other 2 cottages nearby. One cottage is across the lake and the other is over the hill, meaning that the place is quiet and peaceful. There are loads of birds, deer, otters etc.

Accès des voyageurs
Guests will have access to the whole house, and the full property and river, where there is a lovely swimming hole. They will not have access to the lake, except to enjoy the lovely views, birds and sunlight on the hill overlooking the lake. Guests will not have access to the deck by the lake.

Autres points à prendre en note
THINGS TO BRING WITH YOU:

There is a fire pit outside, but you will have to bring your own wood.

We provide toilet paper, soap, dish detergent, and cleaning products, as well as bedding, pillows, towels, and dish towels. WE DO NOT PROVIDE BEACH TOWELS, SO IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO SWIM, PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN.

You will find oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, sugar and coffee filters. You bring the rest!

Do not drink the water....there is a bottled water dispenser and we provide 2 large bottles of drinking water.

Heating....
The cottage is heated throughout with radiant floor heating, considered one of the best systems a house can have. There are water tubes throughout the cottage under the floor. The water in the tubes is heated by propane using a Navien system, which heats the water as needed. The result is a toasty warm floor, and even heat throughout the house. There is a thermostat, so you can adjust the heat as desired.

GETTING THERE:
Please note that (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps or GPS often take you too far down our road off the Kennisis Lake Road. If you get to a small bridge you have gone too far!

Unlike many cottage properties where you have to drive on long, winding country roads to get there, access to our cottage is very easy. Located off the main Kennisis Lake Road, you drive only about 400 meters down a municipal road which is ploughed all winter. And once you are there you will feel like you are living in the wilds, with only nature in sight. We are on 5 acres of private property overlooking a private lake and a river, with one cottage off in the distance across the lake.

After we retired, my husband and I moved to Tobago in the West Indies where we spent three amazing years working with the local community to build and operate their first YMCA. Although we loved our life down south, we realized that we missed our family, and came back to our favourite little corner of the world - West Guilford, Ontario. We are keeping ourselves busy - canoeing, swimming, playing golf, doing yoga, snowshoeing, and playing table tennis. When the kids were young we skied every weekend at Sir Sam's, but these days we are not so keen on falling! Our favourite thing is hosting our children and grandchildren at the cottage for swimming, canoeing, paddle boarding; friends and family for long dinners with great conversation; endless board games; sing-songs by the fire, and bottomless glasses of wine (or samples from our two local craft breweries, if that's more your speed). We have lived in many parts of the world - from the Caribbean, to Africa, to Switzerland, to Chicago. We are veteran travelers who know how to leave a place cleaner than we found it. We love to laugh, and have a zillion stories to tell about our adventures and misadventures all over the world - just ask us about the Christmas Tree story!
