This unique and beautiful guest suite is on the ground floor of this gorgeous bespoke newly built wood and lead clad house. There are two pairs of double glazed french windows opening onto the south facing terrace and garden. The suite is naturally light, private and furnished with real comfort in mind. I am a practicing professional artist so the space is decorated with original paintings. I hope you will find it a lovely relaxing space in which to unwind.

Le logement
I do what I can to ensure your stay is perfect! We are a short walk from Rock beach and many local amenities. Private access into the guest suite is from the terrace / garden through the french doors. The sofa is a very comfortable, solid sprung 1920s construction with feather cushions and the television is a modern smart TV. There is also WiFi. Parking is on the driveway a few strides around the corner from the terrace. The bed is a new extremely comfortable super king with lovely superking 10 tog duvet, 4 pillows and Egyptian pure cotton white bedlinen. In the summer there is a 2 tog cotton duvet for warmer weather with extra quilts and blankets just in case. It is easy to swap the duvets over so please do let me know in advance if you prefer a particular duvet weight. This bed is zip and link, it can be separated to be two separate 3’ single beds (for stays of 5 nights or more) if desired. The hand towels and bath sheets are deep sumptuous white cotton. There is a quiet fridge with ice, kettle and toaster along with all the crockery glasses and cutlery you may need. Unfortunately during these Covid times government restrictions mean I am no longer able to provide tea, coffee, fresh fruit or biscuits - any consumable items at all. Unfortunately I fall into the vulnerable category and so I have provided items for washing up as I am unable to interact with guests, please feel free to pile your washing up into the grey bowl stored in the sideboard and my cleaner will put it into the dishwasher after your departure.

Accès des voyageurs
Please ask me in advance of your stay if you would like to use the iron and ironing board or if there is anything else that you require for your stay.

Autres points à prendre en note
I don't provide breakfast. However, I can recommend lots of lovely local cafes to enjoy wonderful views with cooked english breakfasts, smoothies and fresh coffee. In the suite there is a fridge, kettle and toaster, crockery and cutlery, so if you prefer to self cater you can enjoy private breakfasts with your own provisions.

!!PROTECT OUR ENVIRONMENT!!
I provide best quality pure white linen for guests. Recently, more guests use fake tanning products. Use of stain removers is largely unsuccessful and costly to the environment. I want to let you know I have to charge for replacement of irretrievably stained linens.

Teal House is within a 10 minute walk from the infamous St Enedoc Golf course, St Michaels Church at Porthilly, The Methodist Chapel, The Camel Estuary and the long sandy beach at Rock, with wonderful varied sand dunes too, I can’t emphasise just how exceptional it is all year round! St Enedoc Chapel is about 20 minutes walk away and St Minver Church is a short drive away.

Please interpret the following as Covid-19 variations on hospitality differ in this ever changing landscape. When you have booked following messages will include website information for all of the following venues and more.

Overlooking the estuary in Rock are restaurants such as The Mariners Pub with first floor balcony serving delicious food from renowned chef Nathan Outlaw.

The chic contemporary St Enedoc Hotel with outdoor pool and Spa. There you can enjoy delicious local food prepared by their chef James Nathan whilst overlooking the estuary from their dining room and terrace.

St Enedoc Golf Course, the renowned links golf course which stretches between Rock and Daymer Bay also boasts pretty 12th century St Enedoc Chapel, which nestles between fairways at the back of Daymer Bay (the resting place of Sir John Betjeman) is a popular choice for golfers and walkers alike.

The Blue Tomato Cafe, Number 1 Rock Rock Road and The Rock Inn are also popular restaurant choices. Shops such as The Beach House with its Ice Cream bar, Jack Wills and White stuff are there too. There are lovely coastal walks extending from Rock Beach to Daymer Bay and on to Polzeath Village and beach. The more adventurous may even venture on to Port Quin, Port Isaac, Port Gaverne and even Trebarwith Strand!

Central to Rock Village and conveniently within a 5 minute walk of Teal House are various local shops which include a bakery, delicatessen, Spa shop, newsagents, Quba Sails clothing and Mooch - a wonderful gift shop.

One of my favourite things to do is to take the little 10 minute passenger ferry across the Camel estuary to Padstow. Padstow is a busy working harbour, bursting with character, cafes, bars, restaurants and shops of all kinds, and of course is the home of Celebrity chef Rick Stein. Bikes can be hired in Padstow and easy access to the Camel trail which is an old level bridal path running from Padstow to Wadebridge, it goes on to Wenford Bridge and Bodmin. It is 17.3 miles (27.8 km) long - you can do as much or as little as is appropriate for you!

Camel Ski School is located on the estuary near to the ferry point in Rock (for ferry trips to Padstow). There you will find a delightful waterside coffee shop, a team of enthusiastic water sports teachers and an abundance of water based activities on offer. You can also hire equipment such as wetsuits, paddle boards and Kayaks.

A short drive or 20min walk away is The Point with its own Golf course, club house with restaurant, tennis courts, indoor pool, sauna, steam and gym.. Also The St Moritz Hotel in nearby in Trebetherick also has an outdoor pool, restaurant, casual bar, gym, indoor pool, and sauna, The Cow Shed is also a well respected destination for their beauty and natural treatment rooms.

Nearby is Polzeath beach which is renowned for surfing. There are several surf hire shops, cafes, restaurants, a Spar supermarket and gift shops.

Further afield there are a wealth of wonderful places to visit, be it culture, dining, walking and more, such as luxury hotels The Scarlett Hotel, Bedruthen Steps Hotel and Watergate Bay. The Eden Project is a 50min drive away towards the south coast. There are many beautiful gardens and national trust locations too. Charlestown harbour is a pretty unspoilt seaside town in a sheltered spot on the south coast a short distance from Eden project.

I am fun loving, trustable and resourceful. I love living in Rock on the coast in North Cornwall where I enjoy walking the beaches with friends and their dogs and the occasional sea swim when it’s warm. I am a creative person, everyday I love to go out with my sketchbook to make notes for paintings. My studio is upstairs where I spend time composing on canvas whilst listening to music. If you are interested in joining me please do ask. I love to travel to warmer climes and taste different foods. I was born and grew up on a farm in North Yorkshire, as a teenager my parents lived in West Africa where I joined them for school holidays, in my twenties I lived in London and then aged 27 I spent 3 years in Tokyo teaching art to youngsters. I have also taught portraiture in school and continue some teaching alongside my own practice in Cornwall. Building this house was a gorgeous creative project on my drawing board for a few years, with the help of a local builder we made it happen, moving in just in time for my daughter Tilly’s 21st Birthday party in September 2017. My son Olly turned 21 in 2018 too. After a few awkward run ins with cancer I have adjusted my diet with clean living in mind. As a result I make and drink fresh organic green juice everyday amongst a zillion other healthy/detox protocols - this house and I are as organic as I can afford.
