The pool gets sun from ~ 8am to ~ 2 pm. If we cut away some palms and other trees, we could extend the sun a couple of hours, but would lose some privacy. But you're right, not much pool sun after 2-3 pm. Yes, it is an "open" property, old-time Bali style, without the big walls that surround properties nowadays, because they are built so close together. In Bali, most people just buy the "footprint" where they build a house,so most properties are made private by large walls. There is kid run-around area (enough for a tiny soccer field- my kids used to play there...) next to the house, in front of Made, the caretaker's house, as well as behind both the pool hut and Yoga pavillion, but there are drop-offs so not so good for the usual wild 1/2- 3 year-olds. Made doesn't mind if kids play there. Also, kids love to slide down the hill in front of the house on cardboard boxes you bring groceries home with. But you are absolutely right- although small kids like the hill and pool, etc, you do need to keep a close eye on the small ones.
