Le logement

Our flat is on the first floor in a classic, high-ceiling Edinburgh-style tenement building. The whole flat faces out on to the street through large windows that let in plenty of light and sun!

You'll have all the comforts of home, a couple of minutes' walk from busy Broughton Street with it's trendy bars, boutique shops, great pubs and well-reviewed restaurants.

It's comprised of a large eat-in kitchen with a dining setting for four people. The kitchen is well set up and includes a old Victorian coal stove (no longer working) that gives it a rustic touch. Last year we installed a new oven, as I had received feedback that the previous one wasn't working as well as it could. Your basics of salt, pepper, olive oil, tea, coffee and sugar are provided. The kitchen includes a dishwasher and washing machine with all detergents provided.

This year I have taken up the carpet and had the floors polished in the bedroom, hall and lounge - it looks great, and is super clean and fresh.

The main bedroom has a good quality, comfortable double bed, good quality linen and duvet, a decorative fireplace, double-glazed window, hanging rack and chest of drawers.

The lounge room is a very nice place to relax after a day of sight-seeing and is a good size with two large windows, leather sofas, TV and a tiled, decorative fireplace.

I updated the bathroom with a brand new electric shower in May 2016, it's small but mighty! The bathroom is filled with light, with a large deep bath, a basin and toilet. Towels are provided.

A small 'box room' includes a small double loft bed with a single bed under it. (Linen and duvets are provided). This room is very small as you can see in the pictures, but the beds are comfortable. This room has an internal window that lets air and light in from the lounge room but can be closed off properly if adults want to stay up and kids need to go to bed.

There's plenty of storage space off the hall for suitcases and clothes and the flat is cosy and warm, even in the coldest winters.

The flat is well located in that it is on the edge of the inner city. This means you can easily walk into town but there is a large Tesco Supermarket only a three minute walk away, and free on street parking a 10 minute walk away.

It's just a 15 minute walk up Broughton Street - past lovely cafes, pubs and one-off shops - and you're at Princes Street. Another 15 minutes takes you over the bridge to the Old Town and Edinburgh Castle.

Head in the other direction and you're 10 minutes from Edinburgh's delightful Botanic Gardens. Even closer is the Water of Leith with it's path to the fabulous restaurants and night life of Leith.

Rodney Street is very easy to access from the city centre.

If you arrive by PLANE, you can now take the Edinburgh Tram directly from the Airport to York Place. The tram stops right at the corner with Broughton Street which becomes Rodney Street after a few downhill blocks.

If you arrive by TRAIN make sure you alight at Waverley. From there it is a 15 minute downhill walk to the flat - happy to email you a map - or take the Number 8 bus from North Bridge (next to Balmoral Hotel).

If you arrive at the Edinburgh BUS station, you are practically at the top of Broughton Street, which becomes Rodney Street. Again you can either walk down or pick up the No 8 bus at the top of Broughton Street.

If you arrive by CAR the good news is that we are near the edge of the city parking. Totally free on street parking is a 10 minute walk away, and on street parking is free in the evenings, or weekends. There's a map in the flat to guide you to the best spots.

Guests have access to the whole flat. The kitchen is well stocked with equipment and basics like olive oil, salt, pepper, tea and coffee. There are also dishwashing and clothes washing detergents.

There is spare bedding so you can have extra warm duvets on your bed or change the pillow to make sure you're comfortable.

My favourite part of hosting is meeting people, showing them around the flat and telling them about Edinburgh - but my day job is sometimes too busy, so my friend Leanne has been helping me out. Whoever meets you, I'm always happy to provide information and recommendations during your stay, or recommend places in Scotland to visit, so feel free to bombard me with questions!

logement comme indiqué , a 5 min a pied du centre ville , donc assez calme. nous avons été reçu par pip qui nous à bien conseillé et indiqué tout ce qu'il y avait a savoir . nous reviendrons surement à Edimbourg grâce à votre accueil , merci encore .

Accueil chaleureux de Pip. L'appartement correspond parfaitement à la description. Nous venons régulièrement à Edimbourg et le reprendrons volontiers : excellent emplacement, peu bruyant la nuit, bus devant la porte (2 lignes), quartier très agréable (New Town) et magasin ouvert le soir à 200 m.

Très bon séjour dans cet agréable appartement très bien situé : lieu calme proche du centre à pied. De plus notre hôtesse a toujours été disponible pour toutes nos questions.

Apt. is 1st floor in mixed residential/small shop area. Broughton St., a popular area with restaurants and pubs is just 5-10 mns up the road. The heart of New Town is 15-20 mns away and Old Town 30 mns. We had no issues with the distances. Apt. was clean though there is street noise.

Der Aufenthalt in Pips Wohnung hat uns sehr gefallen. Die Wohnung ist nett eingerichtet. Die Küche ist sehr gut ausgestattet. Man kann zu Fuß in die City und in der Nähe sind viele Bars, Cafés und ein Supermarkt ist direkt um die Ecke. Pip war eine sehr freundliche Gastgeberin und hat uns sehr nett empfangen und uns gute Tips und Hinweise gegeben. Ansonsten gibt es in der Wohnung eine Mappe mit Tips, wo man hingehen kann. Wir können die Wohnung sehr empfehlen.

I'm an Aussie who came to Edinburgh for 12 months back in 2008 and have been here ever since. I love Edinburgh and think it is one of the great cities of the world. Small enough to be friendly and walkable, big enough to have a world class festival - and just a short flight to Europe. Love it!

I'm also passionate about the highlands and islands - I'm gradually seeing them all and am always happy to share my experiences and recommendations. My current goal is to go to St Kilda - so remote, so many birds and so much history!
