Hi I'm Gavan, I'm a keen surfer and traveller and having recently spent nearly 3 months travelling around Europe with my wife Gayle, staying with Air BnB hosts and I know how great it is to find a welcoming host with a home-away-from-home and to 'live like a local'!
Many of our guests come to Phillip Island to see our amazing wildlife, the penguins, koalas, wallabies and the whales in winter. I can help you with your bookings and I also recommend other local special places of interest such as great walks or wineries to visit while you stay.
I've worked in the tourism industry, speak Japanese and I understand how great it is to have a host that can give you all the local tips on great places to visit and eat. I've collected all the local maps and information and will provide it to you on arrival.
I understand the local weather and tide conditions and I can advise you on the safest family beaches to visit for a swim or where to learn how to surf. I also know which surf breaks will be working so if you are looking to experience some of the best waves in Victoria, just ask me!
I love to travel once a year to Indonesia to surf at G Land or Nias and get some huge barrels! In my spare time I love to play guitar and garden in my awesome native garden. I'm also a member of Coastcare and volunteer on a monthly basis with a group of like minded locals to look after our coastal foreshore.
As far as cooking goes, I have set up a special barbeque (BBQ) and outdoor dining area for guests. You can use it to cook up a feast of bacon and eggs for breakfast or an evening meal of local fish or chicken or steak.
Looking forward to hosting you, your family and friends soon at Surfers Paradise @ Surf Beach :)
