Is a nice getaway for people who want to unplug from the world. No internet or tv gives you a chance to get away from it all. Perfect size for two. Everything was spotless, and Ginny was amazing in communication!

Glad you enjoyed yourself, Chris. I am sorry I did not get your message about extending your stay another night until it was too late -- no cell service while we were white water rafting. It would have been our pleasure to host you another night. Please come back any time!

My family of 3 had a wonderful time at Bear Pause! The Cabin was so charming, with adorable mountain & bear knick-knacks everywhere. We especially liked that there was a twin bed in the same room as a queen...this way or 5 year old didn't have to sleep in a room alone. The views from the back yard were awesome! We even hiked up the dry creek-bed as an evening "adventure". My only suggestion, for you Ginny, would be a patio table? The atmosphere is much too beautiful to have to eat inside everyday. Advice for future renters: Although Bear Pause has most everything, like Ginny said. There are 2 things not there, that would have been helpful. BBQ: If you plan to use the BBQ (which is awesome, works great & great to be able to have home cooked meals while on vacation!) be sure to bring a lighter or matches. SPRAY: If you plan to use the stove top, be sure to bring some type of oil, butter or cooking spray. We brought pancake mix, but couldn't make them because we didn't have spray for the pan.

Hi Abbey, Thanks for the great feedback. I have already requested that my caretaker/manager get a firestarter for the BBQ; and, some cooking spray. I love the suggestion about a patio table, too. Although the trouble is that the winter is so harsh on the outdoor furniture and we don't have a place to store it....Might do one for next season. Thanks again!

The Bear Pause cabin is a quaint little cabin in Big Bear! It is close to everything that you need a cute coffee shop, a supermarket, and a variety of restaurants. The Lake, zoo, and the village are all a short drive away. The cabin itself has all the things you would need. The kitchen is small but mighty with a full stove, oven and refrigerator. The upstairs has two bedrooms with "Bear themed" quilts. Our family loved waking in the backyard in the mornings. We would definitely recommend this staying at Bear Pause. We really enjoyed our weekend. Thanks Ginny!

Thanks for taking the time to read a bit about me and what has inspired me/us to share Bear Pause with you! "Keep Having Firsts," is my life's motto, which I developed as a young college student and Outward Bound Instructor, first for North Carolina OB, and later Colorado OB. I started traveling the world at a young age, and lived in Moscow, Russia, during the height of communism, giving me a broader perspective on diverse cultures, and the true reality of freedom. By age 26, I had traveled to 49 of 50 states; and, by 1991, finally made it to the 50th, by cycling the entire Alaska Coast Highway. My passion for cycling grew exponentially, and while living in San Diego, I founded, promoted, produced and rode in the first-ever, all women's bike ride across the U.S. for breast cancer. We did this history-making event three times! At the same time, I ran my own company, Women In Motion, and led adventure-based and R&R trips for women, domestically and internationally, to include white water/ocean paddling, backpacking, rock climbing, snow sports, and eco- tourism, many of which were based in BBL. Prior to these entrepreneurial endeavors, I worked for Anheuser-Busch in sports marketing with special promotions, advertising, special events, and public relations while I served as national director of the IronKids programs for 10 years. As a goal-oriented person, and throughout this combo of vocation-avocation stuff, I challenged myself personally through Ultra-distance events, too. I combined work and pleasure while completing -- several times, the IronMan Triathlon in Kona, Hawaii, the Minnesota Border to Border Triathlon, the Mt. Taylor Winter Quadrathlon, and many more. In fact, I served on the USA Triathlon Board of Directors and as the U.S. Triathlon Junior Olympic Team Manager for 10 years; and, was a key player in the sport achieving full-fledged Olympic status, in 2000, in Australia. A few stints in marketing and communications for the United States Olympic Committee; as well as being a high school and community college teacher and professor and Dean at several universities, highlight a career where I am so fortunate to combine my personal and professional passions. It doesn't get any better than this!

"Keep Having Firsts" has now translated to my family. My wife, Karen, and I take at least one 'bucket-list" trip each year with our daughter (now 11). We recently completed a RTW trip (Around the World) - one of those life goals we did not want to put off. We logged approx 50,000 miles, 25 countries, over 40 cities; and, spent five months of getting down with the locals and various cultures, all over the globe. Volunteerism was an imperative part of our journey as well. Many more "firsts" to come !!! :)

"Bear Pause" Chalet was home base for many of our adventures (including our Colorado wonder-dog golden retriever, Powder); and, I am delighted to share it with our airbnb guests!

Yours in the Outdoors,
Ginny, Karen and Family
