Le logement
This 15x11' studio space is a private tiny house with patio and outdoor shower and claw foot tub with on demand hot water. In winter months the outdoor water is turned of when there is potential for a freeze. Please use my soaps or your own biodegradable products only! The house is connected to a gravity spring with 400 gallon reservoir wonderful to bathe in and drink. You can visit the spring head behind the house a short walk behind the house. The kitchenette has a small dorm fridge and electric cook top, toaster oven, and french press. Coffee and some teas are provided. Basic cooking oil and seasonings are provided. A small electric stove provides ambience and heat in cooler months. During the winter months the bathrooms in the main house are an option if the outdoor water must be turned of during a freeze. Outhouse is a 2 seater and directions must be followed. The listing has a 2 night minimum, if you only need one night contact me for special pricing option.

The cabin is surrounded by forest and suitable for most nature lovers. Nature rules here and bugs and little creatures occasionally get in the house. If you are squeamish about bugs etc. and want a more sterile environment a hotel is your best bet and there is a Holiday Inn nearby.

Accès des voyageurs
Please be sure to print out directions only those that don't get lost and GPS is not always reliable. The property is not visible from the main road and you actually turn at 1608.

The main house is a short walk from the Hobbit house and often operates like a hostel hosting up to 12 guests. You are welcome to roam the property watch for poison ivy though. If you need internet you can contact Kelly and come to the main house for reception or to make a call. Please be considerate if there are other guests at the main house. The spring head is up a small trail behind the house. Property is a holler and is ridge to ridge please stay within the property boundaries.

Autres points à prendre en note
We live in the woods! Bugs, critters, and nature rules here at times. If you want a spotless 5 star hotel experience do not stay here. If you are a nature lover and enjoy quiet beautiful places in nature you will thoroughly enjoy the Hobbit House and the land here and those other guests that may be visiting the main house are of the same fabric.

The bathing area is not completely enclosed and private and is in nature so if exposure concerns you it might not be a listing for you.

Hiking is just out the back door and there are many local hiking trails within a 30-50 minute drive: Grayson Highlands, Elk Knob, Snake Mountain, Mount Rogers, Three Top Mountain, Bluff Mountain Preserve (permission needed). Trail-Biking is great on the nearby VA Creeper Trail. The quaint town of West Jefferson is 15 minutes away and boasts many local art galleries, a brewery, a cheese factory, antique malls, and several lovely places to eat. Boone, home to Appalchian State is another great place to visit 50 minutes away. The Seasons...Fall can be spectacular for mountain color which often peaks mid-October. Spring, April and May, enjoy the forests waking up with native flowers and morels! Summer, enjoy greens from the garden, the local Saturday Farmer's Market, and pick blueberries right outside the back door!

I am in the prime of my life manifesting my dreams! I am a local photographer involved in my local arts community and nature conservancy in West Jefferson, NC. Spirit Canoe Lodge is the name of my home and retreat center and is located in Ashe County. We recently became a non-profit. I host several events throughout the year including some with local healers and master teachers. I also design personal ceremonies for life transitions. Please visit my website called Spiritcanoelodge for more information. It's possible to plan your trip around many of the events we have scheduled if you feel called to participate. I have integrity in all that I do while maintaining a sense of humor. I love making new connections and helping others manifest their dreams. There is a level of expectation that guests will treat my space as if it were their own. I welcome people of all colors and faith with mutual respect. Note that this Lodge is similar to a hostel and that there are usually 1 or more hosts or guests. The large cabin is surrounded by forest and suitable for most nature lovers. Nature rules here and bugs and little creatures occasionally get in the house. If you are squeamish about bugs etc. and want a more sterile environment a hotel is your best bet and there is a Holiday Inn nearby. We are on spring water and a septic system so there are also protocols that need to be followed to ensure maintaining our alignment with nature. I look forward to meeting my guests and making new connections. Kelly "Life begins at the edge of your comfort zone!" ~Neal Donald Walsh
