Country quiet, city convenient. You must appreciate quirky, bohemian houses to stay in this 110 year old Victorian with old world charm. It is not modernized but is rich in arty details including a paperbag floor. Walk to 25 restaurants, 3 coffee houses, 3 bakeries, grocery & more. Beach, library, museum too. Park the car, relax & enjoy. Restful neighborhood - no loud parties. TUL permit #0333.
Beautiful stained glass windows and surprising artisan touches (egg shell mosaics, chair upholstered with neck ties and other upcycled furniture). Master bedroom has "healing wall" painted in Lazure style found in Waldorf Schools. All art is original and is rotated in and out of the house. Chalkboard at top of stairs with inspiring messages.
Master has king bed, other downstairs bedroom has queen and twin bed, upstairs bedrooms have four twin beds (2 each).
One bathroom with shower but no bathtub. Each room has their own color coded towels on drying racks. No dishwasher, no garbage disposal. All linens are provided.
Both downstairs bedrooms have separate entries to outside. Back yard has small grill and a fire pit. Sometimes wood is available, or you may buy at the nearby market.
A short block away is PG's downtown with grocery store, theater, coffee shops along with the world class sustainable restaurant, Passionfish. Half a block to the east is Grove Market, with excellent prepared food at butcher section which is voted best butchers year after year. Farmers Market on Monday evenings in downtown PG on Center St. Art House is a quiet home on one way street.
Near public transit, two blocks from bike path that skirts the Monterey Bay Sanctuary to the Aquarium, Cannery Row, and Fisherman's Wharf. Parking on 18th street and cross street on Laurel Street. You might never get in your car once you are here.
The stained glass is one of a kind and all art are original pieces. Narrow stairway to attic bedrooms. This is an historical, charming, very old house.

It is up to guests how much interaction they would like. I live 2 blocks north on the same street so can meet with you most anytime.
Wood floors are distressed, which is better than a distressed host. The upstairs can get warm when it's sunny but fans are provided in both rooms. Permit # 0333 (not a concern for guests - this is a city requirement).
Do not park in front of or block any of the small driveways of my neighbors. You will be ticketed or towed. Quiet outside after 9 pm as neighbors live close and are very nice. No smoking and no garbage/food down any drain. Stairs, floor to ceiling windows in two bedrooms and stained glass would be vulnerable features to overactive kids. I am very firm on the NO PETS rule except for certified service dogs. I've learned my lesson the hard way and I don't mess with the universe when it tries to tell me something. This is not a party house or a place for loud gatherings.

Local artist who also works as an occupational therapist specializing in pain management. I have not owned a car since 2009, and sail/kayak in the Monterey Bay if I'm not on one of my amazing bikes. I live just up the street in a 110 year old Victorian where my children grew up into better adults than I am, both of whom are Junior Olympians in volleyball. Sometimes I love sitting in the Art House or The LIttle Blue House more than my own -- peaceful and serene doesn't do it justice....
