A perfect remote place to escape on the beautiful Isle of Mull, this cosy cottage has been refurbished to a high standard in 2018 and is warmed by efficient electric heating. There is a balcony room with a super-king bed, and downstairs a small twin room & bath/shower room. The new kitchen goes through to a spacious sitting/dining room. There is a porch, a private outdoor area with a barbecue and picnic table as well as parking on site. Checkout our instagram page (ardvergnish_cottage)!

Le logement
Set in a stunning location at the foot of Ben More, the Island's sole Munro, Ardvergnish Cottage is an ideal base for walkers, holidaymakers & birdwatchers and is centrally located for exploring the island.

The cottage is a private extension to a family holiday house (often empty out of summer season). It has a lovely view up Glen More where deer can often be spotted grazing. The estuary to Loch Beg lies below the house and the Loch is a 10 minute walk, where otters and hen harriers are regularly seen.

We love having dogs to stay (maximum 2), but we hope you'll understand we have to charge a small one off fee to make up for the extra time it takes to clean.

We have just added a porch to the front of the house (Feb 2019) which is perfect for muddy boots and soggy dogs!

Accès des voyageurs
Although the cottage is attached to the main house, it is totally private and has its own private entrance, garden and parking area.

Autres points à prendre en note
Please note that there is a small river 100 meters behind the cottage. It is very beautiful and lovely to walk along, but is a hazard to children and pets.

We absolutely love having well behaved dogs to stay, but I am afraid we have to charge a one off charge of £15 to help cover the extra time it takes to clean the cottage ready for the next guests. If you want to bring a dog or two, let me know when you book and we will send you a payment link through the Airbnb resolution centre requesting the extra payment. I’m afraid we can’t have more than two dogs to stay at a time.

There is wifi at the cottage, but as you can imagine, getting internet to the property was a challenge! We therefore have satellite internet which is slow and capped so we ask you to use it only for emails and messaging, and do all your downloads before you arrive. We feel the limited internet is a positive, making the cottage a perfect place to switch off from busy life. The sitting room does have Freesat TV + a DVD player with a selection of films for those cosy nights in!

Due to Corona Virus the cottage must be deep cleaned every changeover and must comply with the government rules. Our cleaning charge is normally £90 per stay, but due to the extra hours of cleaning we have been forced to increase our cleaning charge to £140 per stay. We hope you understand.

Argyll and Bute, Écosse, Royaume-Uni

Wonderful day trips include:
- Hop across to the spiritual island of Iona, to see the ancient Abbey.
- Jolly Tobermory with its multi-coloured houses, excellent shops and the superb Café Fish restaurant
- Take a boat out to see Fingal’s Cave on Staffa and to the Treshnish Isles in early summer to see puffins, guillemots and Cormorants nesting amongst primroses and bluebells.
- Visit the stunning beaches on the Ross of Mull (see photo above of Knockvologan)
- Walk along rocky shores with wild goats to Mackinnons Cave or the Carsaig arches
- Take safari trips with local firms to see the wildlife
- Sea fishing trips can be arranged from Tobermory, or trout fishing on lochs.
- Climb Ben More, a munro, on a clear day starting at sea level beside the house

Mull is a birdwatcher’s paradise with numerous raptors and seabirds including the recently re-introduced white-tailed or sea eagle. Hen harriers hunt the marsh in front of the house, curlews cuckoos nest in the hills behind and deer come down to graze on the saltmarsh at dusk. Puffins and guillemots nest on outlying islands. Otters are seen all along the coast.

I am an interior designer working in London. I have been lucky enough to spend every summer at our family house on the stunning Isle of Mull since I was born. I absolutely love the outdoors and being by the sea.

Durant votre séjour
I don’t actually live on Mull, but the house caretaker is called Erica and she lives 20 mins away from Ardvergnish. She is also a fantastic cook, and can make you delicious casseroles ready for your arrival!
