The very best things about Residenza Del Duca Snc are the location and the views! There are two backyard spaces overlooking the water: a top level with a table and chairs for sitting and perhaps eating outside, and a lower level with lounge chairs for tanning and even a hammock with kiwis hanging overhead. We were there in July and enjoyed gathering fresh fruit and vegetables, using many of them in meals that we cooked on several occasions. The lemons are everywhere as well as plums, figs, pears, eggplant, tomatoes, beans, zucchini, and several kinds of herbs. The distance to the center of town is very walkable. It takes about fifteen minutes, mostly up the edge of the road with a few stairs thrown in. Ravello is the most beautiful of the towns we visited in the Amalfi Coast. It also has beautiful gardens at Villa Rufulo and Villa Cimbrone.
Transportation to other nearby towns (Amalfi, Positano, Maiori, Minori) is easy. Just get the bus at the top of hill (1,30 Euro to Amalfi). Or you could do what some of our younger folks did, walk down the mountain. There are easy to find trails leading to some of the towns. And if you don't want to walk back up, take the bus.
The rental is very nicely furnished in a modern style, but lacks drawers for storing clothes, and the bedside lamps give very little light. The air conditioning was welcome on hot days, but on many days we could just open the doors and let the breezes in.
You can arrange tours to Pompeii and Herculaneum, ferry boat rides to Capri and Salerno, and of course take the bus to go shopping in Amalfi. We stayed for two weeks and loved having a variety of things to do.
