Her place is very clean, comfy, equipped with all that you need to spent a night there in Toronto. It's a bit far from downtown (30-40 mins by subway) but that did not bother me since I drove there. The surrounding area is quite good. It is like a small Korean community and yes, the most important thing is that it's safe. Moreover a traditional Korean breakfast was served for the guests on the day I stayed which was wonderful. It's even better than some Korean restaurant. Overall, this place is awesome. I would recommend anyone to come and stay for their Toronto trip.
Perhaps it's because I'm not familiar with Korean culture/language but this was the worst experience I've ever had with AirBnB. Right from the get go, communication in English was hard, like other Airbnb hosts in finch/Toronto, their rooms appear as available and they simply decline your request to book if they are full so it was hard to establish that the room was indeed free. The posting is only in Korean and even the address is in Korean and (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) translate couldn't generate a usable address. The host did provide me with the exact address in English upon request. I passed by at about noon to see the room but couldn't see it because apparently the room was occupied. No big deal I was planning on checking in at 8-9pm anyway. When I returned at 9pm I was accompanied by a friend who I had been to dinner with. The host asked if she would spend the night (in front of my friend) and I said I didn't know. The host insisted that the room is for one person and that she must leave. I took out my iPad and checked the listing and said there was nothing in the rules about extra guests but the host insisted that it was specified in Korean in the add. My friend is a nice polite Chinese girl and she was terribly embarrassed by the situation. I offered to pay extra for my extra guest and the host wouldn't have it but tried to show us other rooms she had with 2 beds that were 3 times the price. After arguing for about 10 minutes in front of my bedroom door, the conversation was going nowhere, so I told the host to contact airbnb, took my friend by the hand, yanked her in my room and shut the door. My friend wanted me to walk her home because she felt so u welcome but we were so exhausted from visiting that we ended up crashing there anyway. The basement room is located in big a house with 12 other rooms (according to the host). The bed was a single/twin bed; of course I didn't want this but the bed was visible in one picture so that's my fault for not noticing. The pink sheet on the bed is cut out to fit exactly to the edge with no overhang so it barely even covers your body and there is only one pillow. The ventilation in the wall has no cover so it is simply a hole in the wall with visible gypsum/insulation. The wi-Fi reception was poor and slow. The bathroom was very dirty with no bathmat and I wasn't offered nor did I ask for a towel (given the tense exchange). Outside the window, there is an AC unit for the house that is very loud (about like an idling truck) and it turns on intermittently so the window had to be shut. Luckily it was cool enough. At 8 AM the...
Great host and the place was perfect. We're renovating my apartment and my previous accommodations fell through at the last minute so I had to find somewhere at short notice. I literally booked this within 24 hours of needing to arrive. The host immediately responded and accepted my request. The place was tidy and cozy. I just needed somewhere to sleep and work and this private room was the perfect place for me. Would definitely recommend. I live near the area and it's a great area. It's about 10-15 minutes away from the Finch/Yonge intersection which has a number of great cafes/restaurants and Finch subway is right at the intersection if you want to get to the downtown area.
The room was cozy, the bed was comfortable, wifi was great. Has everything you need, but most importantly, the host was amazing. I stayed for 2 weeks and Laura treated me like family. I really appreciated this. The breakfast was my favourite part of the stay. The food was absolutely delicious. I would definitely come back to visit Laura and her family.
The room I got was simple and spacious. It was in the basement but that didn't bother me. Had a shared bathroom-the water from the tap did have a funny smell so not sure what that was about. Though you can get drinking water from the kitchen fridge. The wifi was fine too. The best part about this stay was the yummy Korean buffet breakfast. I really enjoyed the Kimchi stew. The family is nice. They do speak English so you should not have a problem there. The location is about 13 minutes walk to Finch station. It is a bit much if you're carrying heavy bags. So you need to think about whether you can handle that or not. Overall, it is not bad for the value.
