We checked into our place with the though of having a small cabin on the beach. We did end up having a place right on the beach but it was a bit misleading with the pictures provided. The cabin they show you sits back between two other buildings, so while you do see the beach out the front door it is a bit of a tunnel view. They did have other "cabin's" right on the beach but that was an upgraded fee that we weren't aware of. Seeing the area after we did in fact pay the upgrade, there are many many places right on the beach for a cheaper price. We did feel a bit obligated to upgrade seeming how we were unaware of the area and never having been there before. That being said it is a beautiful place and even having to pay the upgraded fee for a "better" room it was worth it. She told me the upgrade fee was 500tbh/night we stayed 3 nights. When I paid the upgrade fee the total came to $1500thb then all the sudden it was $1545. I couldn't explain that one. The room was basic at best. While it is a cute little cabin be prepared to sleep basically on a rock. The beds are extremely hard. We did fly around Thailand and found this to be true at every place we stayed. Not sure if because we used Airbnb every time and that's the cheapest mattress they all used or if that's how the Thai culture is, we didn't sleep well because of the hard mattress but this was true at any of the places we stayed at not only this one. This bed was the harder of the three different places we stayed at. That being said it was still worth the view. The staff is very friendly and though we couldn't communicate very well (limited English) they were always smiling. We rented scooters right from the resort at $200tbh/day. They were great and a must do if staying on the island. Cab's are pretty expensive on the island so rent the scooter. We ended up having to buy ice for the refrigerator because it didn't get cold at all and we needed to keep our drinks and food cold. Water pressure is par at best so make sure to allow Extra time to shower and rinse the soap off. They did provide a very delicious breakfast that surprisingly was included in the price of the rental. We love the water and went snorkeling right out front of the cabin. The water isn't nearly as "blue" in that area however still clear and quite rocky we did see some cool but limited fish.
This was a great little value bungalow on Koh Samui. It's located just north of the main strip of Lamai. 15 minute walk south, or a 15 minute walk north to Thongtakien Bay and viewpoints. If you don't want to walk to where the action is, "Bobbie" and staff will help you rent a motorbike, or fill you in on taxis and songthaws. The staff was generally very friendly and helpful. Your basic bungalow, with a mini fridge, in a clean and tidy place. Our space felt cozy, and though the beds weren't super comfy, this is more of a bungalow hotel, not a resort. If you like your privacy and quiet, and are on a budget. This is a great option. The complimentary breakfast in the morning was great, very filling. A couple pics below of sunset, sunrise and daytime from the beach front. WiFi wasn't an issue for me, but my wife had a hard time connecting for some reason. Overall, would recommend, especially if you don't mind doing a little research and exploring of the island on your own.
