Communications with Ramazan in advance were good, and he arranged pick up at the airport for us – good value compared with public transport since there were 4 of us, and much simpler. As another reviewer says the location is really convenient, with many sites in easy walking distance. The area felt safe at night, and despite the restaurant opposite it was quiet enough to sleep in the front room with the window open. There is a tiny supermarket round the corner, and a fantastic produce market on Wednesdays only in Nakilbent Sk. The restaurant, hotel and corner shop across the street from the apartment belong to the family, so dealing with any problems was always easy. Thanks to Jacqueline and everyone else who made us feel welcome and helped us on various occasions.
Our apartment had a really big front room, where one of us slept on a sofa bed, small kitchen, toilet, and bathroom with shower, and two reasonably sized bedrooms, one with a double bed, one with two single beds. It was clean and spacious, and had period charm. We enjoyed the space, freedom and privacy compared with staying in a hotel. The apartment wasn’t really set up for people who like to cook. There wasn’t a dining table but we improvised. Of course this won’t be an issue if you intend to eat out most of the time, and we enjoyed both the breakfast and the evening meal we had at the family restaurant (seatanbul cafe restaurant). It was cold when we visited (November) but the central heating worked well.
We would recommend the apartment to any group looking for an economical and convenient base for a visit to Istanbul.
