There are 4 of us that stayed there. The apartment is spacious and as mentioned previously, has a big front room to relax and an extra bed we used for naps. It is centrally located and walking distance of the major tourist attractions. Most importantly, it is easy to locate to and from on a map (from someone who lacks a sense of direction). There was always someone around to help and answer any questions either at the restaurant or the convenient store. Ramazan was helpful to anything that we needed. He helped called to set up a tour guide for my dad and our airport transportation. While waiting for the car later in the evening, we were able to relax at the rooftop dinning area of the hotel. We had New Years Eve supper at the restaurant and despite the rain we still had a great time.

Communications with Ramazan in advance were good, and he arranged pick up at the airport for us – good value compared with public transport since there were 4 of us, and much simpler. As another reviewer says the location is really convenient, with many sites in easy walking distance. The area felt safe at night, and despite the restaurant opposite it was quiet enough to sleep in the front room with the window open. There is a tiny supermarket round the corner, and a fantastic produce market on Wednesdays only in Nakilbent Sk. The restaurant, hotel and corner shop across the street from the apartment belong to the family, so dealing with any problems was always easy. Thanks to Jacqueline and everyone else who made us feel welcome and helped us on various occasions. Our apartment had a really big front room, where one of us slept on a sofa bed, small kitchen, toilet, and bathroom with shower, and two reasonably sized bedrooms, one with a double bed, one with two single beds. It was clean and spacious, and had period charm. We enjoyed the space, freedom and privacy compared with staying in a hotel. The apartment wasn’t really set up for people who like to cook. There wasn’t a dining table but we improvised. Of course this won’t be an issue if you intend to eat out most of the time, and we enjoyed both the breakfast and the evening meal we had at the family restaurant (seatanbul cafe restaurant). It was cold when we visited (November) but the central heating worked well. We would recommend the apartment to any group looking for an economical and convenient base for a visit to Istanbul.

Ramazan was a wonderful host who helped us with a timely pick up and refreshments. The house is situated so close to the blue mosque that it made our stay in Istanbul even better. The house is extremly spacious, clean and well kept. Although lack of privacy in terms of door locks and darker window curtains seemed a little inconvenient. The kitchen is sparsely stocked with utensils but since Ramazans family owns the nearby restaurant food didn't seem to be a problem at all. Overall our Istanbul experience would have been incomplete if not for Ramazan and his family's hospitality.

Ramazan is an amazing host! He and his family run the restaurant and hotel across the street from this apartment and thus there is always someone available to respond to any problems that may arise or needs you may have. Above everything else in this apartment the welcome we received and the hospitality extended by Ramazan and his extended family made this an incredible find! The apartment pictures are totally accurate, we were very pleased when we arrived. The apartment has a front room with 2 single bed/couches that serves as a living room/dining room, a second living room type area, a small kitchen (as are most kitchens in Istanbul), 1 bedroom with a double bed, and then 2 bedrooms that are connected to one another with a single bed in each. While the kitchen was a bit sparsely equipped initially we found that anything we were lacking we could simply ask Ramazan for and he was happy to provide it for us if he had it. There is a washer in the kitchen and a clothesline for drying on the back balcony. While the apartment does not have A/C a nice fan is provided and Istanbul gets relatively cool at night and the apartment spans the width of the building so a nice breeze can be had with the windows open. Location is amazing, right in the heart of Sultanahmet, a 5-10 minute walk to the Haggia Sofia, the Hippodrome, the Blue Mosque, the tram line, and more shops and restaurants than you might know what to do with. If you are planning on cooking your own meals the only downside is a lack of well-stocked grocery stores in this tourist area. However, a quick trip on the ferry (either a 30 min walk or a quick tram ride) over to Kadikoy will bring you to an area with amazing markets selling whatever you can imagine, plus an amazing view of the city while on the ferry (for $1 each way, much cheaper than the hordes of people selling Bosporus river tours). Overall this was a great apartment that had everything our international group from the US, Canada, and Denmark, were looking for in basic accommodations in Istanbul for 2 weeks. Our hosts were incredible and we would highly recommend this to anyone and would gladly stay here again in the future!
