Idéalement situé
100 % des voyageurs ont attribué 5 étoiles à l'emplacement du logement.
A unique location, situated on its own small tidal island, surrounded by the sea or sands depending on the coming and going of the tide, accessed by causeway.

The Outhouse is built facing the water for when access was originally by boat, and if the tide was out, horse and cart and later tractor and cart.

Adjacent to the main croft house, The Outhouse, a former shop, weaving and creel making workshop, the first post office in Grimsay in 1800, is now beautifully renovated ideal for two people.

Le logement
Open-plan living area with peat burning stove, lounge area and dining area with kitchen. The kitchen has an eye-level fan assisted oven, induction hob, dishwasher and fridge. There is no microwave.

Downstairs bathroom with original bath with new shower over the bath.

Front porch with small sofa, perfect for watching the coming and going of the tide, the birds in the garden and on the shoreline, to take in the view, or just sit and read or even…snooze.

The rear porch where The Outhouse is approached from the track, has a washing machine, freezer and area for coats and boots.

Upstairs comprises room 1 with double bed, loft style room with eaves, overlooking the garden and tide.

Room 2 is a dressing room with same outlook.

There is a view of Eaval with its recognisable and distinctive slope, from the top of the stairs.

No pets permitted in The Outhouse and there are dogs and sheep around the croft and main house.

No smoking.

There is a radio but no television. There is WIFI. Mobile signal is improving, currently available from 100 yards up the track.

Accès des voyageurs
There is access to the garden and the shore and ample parking. Sorry but The Outhouse does not have disabled access.

Grimsay, Écosse, Royaume-Uni

Life on Grimsay today is an active crofting and fishing community where Gaelic is a living language in the home and workplace.

There are the old walks across the island, the Wheelhouse and 10km around the island is a manageable walk in time for lunch at Ceann na h-Airigh’s Cidsin café where ‘home grown’ produce from the greenhouse and local produce is served in fresh delicious soups, sandwiches and other delights including Dana’s famous chocolate crinkles with barista coffee or a variety of teas and juices.

Ceann na h-Airigh is the former Free Church built by the people of Grimsay and is now a community hub, home to Cidsin and Grimsay Post Office. There is an active calendar of events with weekly local produce markets on Wednesday afternoons, exhibitions and traditional Gaelic ceilidhs and local interest talks, information can be found at: https://www.grimsay.org or https://www.facebook.com/groups/330569763796829/

The busy shellfish harbour is at Kallin where there is also a café serving seafood. https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/grimsay/grimsay/index.html (the photograph of Gearradubh on the right of the page shows the red roof of The Outhouse!)

Uist Wool is also worth a visit https://www.uistwool.com with the wool spinning production viewing area and locally sourced and spun wool to buy!
