The apartment has good wi-fi and a decent view of the town. It is also very clean and quiet. But it was not the one pictured here. ;)
So, let's take it from the start: I sent a request for this apartment. The owner sent a message saying it was not available and that he had another on Lermontova street for the same date. When I checked my email and read this, I immediately started looking for other places to book. Suddenly, I got an email saying that the owner accepted my initial booking request...this, in spite of me not even having sent a response that I am okay with staying in a different apartment in a less central location. I did not appreciate this, as it complicated my plans. A friend and I planned to stay in Mukachevo for that one night, as we were en route to Lviv. Since our train left very early in the morning, the original plan was to stay somewhere a brief walk from the train station. After he took the payment, we realized it would probably be complicated to try to communicate with this guy to get a (URL HIDDEN) we decided to grin and bear it - just stay there and take a taxi in the morning. (Of course, it is never fun to have to book a taxi with barely functional Ukrainian at 6:30 in the morning...but I digress.)
Sadly, upon our arrival...we realized that there were other problems awaiting us:
1) The bed's frame was broken. Of course, this was not obvious from looking at the bed - so when we lied down to take a nap, it collapsed and the upper half of the mattress hit the floor. When we looked under it to see what was the problem, it was clear it had been this way for a while. We moved the mattress off the bed frame to the floor. Then we slept there, which was fine..but not what you expect to do when you pay to rent an apartment.
2) The water only worked inconsistently. I don't know if this was a typical thing or just because the apartment hadn't been used in a while.. but when we wanted to take a shower or wash dishes, we had to turn the handles on the faucet and wait varying amounts of time (sometimes 30 seconds, sometimes about 4 or so minutes) before any water started to come out. We couldn't figure out a pattern to it, so this issue was a bit of a mystery.
All in all, I wouldn't stay here again. I want to give the host the benefit of the doubt, since I imagine that the language barrier could be the issue..but I find it hard to believe he didn't know he was taking my money without giving me the opportunity to say I am not interested in a less central apartment (with a bad carpet job and crappy sleeping arrangement, at that.)
