A light breakfast is included with your stay in a well-appointed guest room for one or two people in a century-old hillside home with magnificent views. Minutes from Iona. Half hour to the NFLD Ferry in No. Sydney. Centrally located for touring - Fortress Louisbourg, Baddeck and the Cabot Trail. No babies or children. NO COOKING. NO SMOKING ON THE PREMISES. PLEASE EAT OUT FOR SUPPER - or, you can bring take-out. I only offer a bed, a shower and a light morning snack at a good price. Thank you!

Le logement
The Field Room has a full-sized bed and accommodates two, non-smoking people. I ALSO have Belle's room, which also has a full-sized bed and can accommodate two non-smoking people. YOU MUST BOOK BOTH ROOMS if you have more than two people in your party:

Field Room: https://www.airbnb.ca/rooms/3180359

Belle's Room: https://www.airbnb.ca/rooms/1528690

Your stay includes a substantial breakfast! Both rooms share a bathroom, but I have another bathroom downstairs available as well.

I have a steep driveway, but most front-wheel drive or AWD vehicles get up the hill without a problem.

I have a fantastic view of Central Cape Breton - the Great Bras D'Or Lake, Cape Breton Highlands, the village of Baddeck, Washabuck Peninsula, the field where Alexander Graham Bell is buried and where he conducted his kite experiments and the Bell Mansion, which is still privately owned.

Accès des voyageurs
Look for 7201 on Grand Narrows Hwy (Route 223) in BIG BEACH - there's a big red ladybug flag at the road. Drive all the way up of the steep driveway (staying to the right) to the white, two-storey house and red outbuildings on the top of the hill.

I offer wireless Internet access, TV and hiking trails up the hill and woods. I CANNOT OFFER LAKE ACCESS. The roads are PRIVATE down to the lake. Please don't use them!

NO BARBECUING. I also insist that you eat your supper out. I offer a bed and breakfast only.

NO SMOKING INSIDE OR OUTSIDE. I do not allow smoking on the property inside or outside. Heavy smokers tend to run in and out all night, which is disruptive.

In addition to your room, you may enjoy two lovely sitting areas with great views of the Bras d'Or Lake, Cape Breton Highlands and surrounding hills.

Autres points à prendre en note
I am located within an hour of most tourist destinations on Cape Breton Island. See the "Guidebook" link for more information!

Tourist attractions include Fortress Louisbourg, The Cabot Trail, Cape Breton Highlands National Park, the Bell Museum in Baddeck, Miner's Museum in Glace Bay, Celtic Colours Music Festival in October and frequent country dances and suppers at the local fire halls in Christmas Island and Boisdale. Iona Heights Inn's Folk and Frolic Pub for lunch and dinner, Darby's Country Kitchen in MacKinnon Harbour, or a weekly Friday Night supper at the Iona Legion. All just ten minutes from the Ladybug B&B!

I have a steep driveway, but most front-wheel drive or AWD vehicles get up the hill without a problem. You'll need a 4x4 if towing a trailer!

I live in a rural neighborhood of large farms, summer bungalows and bachelors!

I have an old wood road to hike on and there's a lovely view from the top of the hill. You can see Cape Smokey and Boularderie Island!

Hello! I live in Central Cape Breton Island, which forms the northern part of the province of Nova Scotia. I am approximately 30 minutes from the Trans-Canada Hwy (TCH) from the West, either via the Orangedale exit and then left onto Portage Road, which goes around Whycocomagh Bay to Rte 223, or from the next exit at Little Narrows, where you take a short cable ferry. From the West, you go through Iona and over the Barra Strait Bascule Bridge. I'm also 30 minutes from the Grand Narrows exit off the TCH/125 to the East. I live on Route 223 ("Grand Narrows Hwy"), a provincial highway that was labeled by Provincial Tourism years ago as the "Bras D'Or Lakes Scenic Drive." LOOK FOR CIVIC # 7205 ON THE TELEPHONE POLE, 7201 ON THE WHITE MAILBOX IN BIG BEACH (the civic numbers go up for a while after crossing the Barra Strait Bridge at Iona/Grand Narrows, but then go down again) AND A TAN WOODEN GARBAGE BOX WITH A RED LADYBUG FLAG AT THE BASE OF MY DRIVEWAY. GO ALL THE WAY UP THE STEEP DRIVEWAY. I'M AT THE TOP OF THE HILL IN THE 2-STOREY WHITE HOUSE AND RED BARN AND WOODSHED. I'm 600 feet up from the road on the side of the Boisdale Hills. I have a spectacular view! I hope to see you! Ann MacKenzie, Ladybug B&B Big Beach, Cape Breton Island
