The log cabin is beautiful. If you are looking for tranquility, peace and countryside then this is the place for you. The cabin has everything you will need with a fully stocked and functioning kitchen. The communications from Stephanie is first rate - from directions, to check in and out and who to contact if you have queries. We would recommend the log cabin for anyone wanting to get out of the rat race for a few days.

This cabin is situated in a "cabin park" developed by the Forest Commission. From what we could see, this is based on a good partnership with the local community, having placed an emphasis on owned vacation homes with a limit on rentals. What this cabin is NOT, is a secluded oasis. While you'll drive a long, twisty road to get there, there are many other cabins all around this one, a big open shared field, and a community center/restaurant with wifi that has EXTREMELY LIMITED HOURS during the off season. In order to really enjoy all that this sweet place has to offer, I'll make the following suggestions: **Really look hard at the map and understand where this cabin is. Unlike Loch Etive to the north and Loch Fyne to the south, the roads surrounding Loch Awe are very small, single track roads, and wind away from the Loch to follow and cross some of the feeder rivers. While the mileage is small, the drive in or out requires care and time. **Because of this, I recommend you do your site-seeing in and around Invereray BEFORE heading to the cabin. This is a place to get away from the busy areas, and either hunker down in the beauty of the immediate area, or drive southwest to the standing stones and museum at Kilmartin. **Be prepared to cook and bring everything that you need with you. There is a nice cafe (with a thoughtful but small grocery selection) down the way, and a restaurant in the community center, both have limited hours. We liked the cabin more the longer we stayed there, as we opened up to what the place is, rather than what we imagined based on the listing description. I would definitely go again; but I'd prepare a bit differently to maximize the experience.

This is a cute wee cabin in a great location. The two split-level living areas are ideal if children and adults want to do something separate (although you are basically all in the one room). There's a great outdoor space (large grassy area) right outside the door. The kids can run around till they drop, whilst the adults chill out on the decking. The nearby Dalavich social club is great, a community owned restaurant/bar with a separate kids area (with table football, air hockey). Being Argyll, there are board games and a DVD player for when (not if!) it rains. Being small and all wood, there's no privacy (you hear everything) and you have to be very tidy, but its ideal as a base to explore the beautiful local area.

The lodge is in a wonderful location, situated on the west side of Loch Awe. The location is heaven, access to boat hire, bikes and the local social club and lots of walks right on your doorstep. I would highly recommend this for a relaxing family break. Most of the surrounding lodges were occupied but the park and loch side never felt busy. The lodge is well equipped for self catering which we did for the whole duration of our stay. There is food available at the site pub/restaurant wed-sun from 1830 onwards and a bar if you fancy a pint! Will definitely be back. Lawrence.
