Perfect place to "social distance" and get away from it all right now. Have a blast being with Mother Nature. She's contagious in a fabulous way! One-of-a-kind Cozy-Comfy, Contemporary-Vintage lodging for exploring the GSMNP and surrounding area - A privately owned RV, The "Nomad Pad" is an homage to our nickname, the TwoScruffyNomads! Our beloved "Chinook" is unlike anything else you'll find, and we think you'll fall in love with it. Everything you need for a BIG time in a TINY footprint.

Le logement
Welcome to a Nomad's Paradise. We've been the sole owner of this hip, full fiberglass-bodied 21' long Chinook Motorhome and it is THE BEST ! In my opinion no small motorhome compares to the "The Nook." It was hard to transition from our full-time living in this awesome little space, but we decided it was finally time to add just a wee bit more square footage to our nomadic full-time-tiny-house-on-wheels-living, so we recently purchased another small motorhome. We're excited about our decision to "retire" The Nook in a way that will allow others to continue enjoying her here at home in the Great Smoky Mountains.

New to staying in a space like this? Never fear! We had fun making quick video tutorials showing you how to operate each area of the space! Once you book, we'll send you the link to our YouTube Channel where you can see them. We left written instructions as well, but since we're both visual learners we wanted to make it as simple as possible for all of our guests.

Enjoy this quiet, woodsy peaceful setting situated along the edge of the GSMNP (Great Smoky Mt. National Park) and only 3 miles from the GSMNP Cosby Entrance. This perfect, convenient location is on privately owned property that has been in the same family for several generations. The property owners, who live on the property as well, are wonderful friendly folks and happily accessible should you need something there onsite in addition to our being available via the Airbnb messaging system and by phone.

Stay at the Nomad Pad and you can avoid the busy crowds & traffic jams of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg - except for those times you choose to add shopping or dining to your Smoky Mt. experience. There are also some fun local eating joints you should try nearby our location as well! We've listed a few for you below in the section about the neighborhood/area. We can get you to the Gatlinburg Entrance to the Park using a few back roads that will avoid some of the crazy downtown traffic. It's about a 15-20 minute drive into Gatlinburg, but the road from this area is smooth and straight - unlike lots of the roads around these parts!

Although small, the engineers who designed the Chinook's layout were brilliant! Sleeps 2-3 as the couch makes into a small double bed and the dinette table breaks down creating another small bed. (The dinette bed is a little shorter than a standard bed, so just keep that in mind - However, diagonal sleeping gives a little more length!) These two sleeping areas can be used separately or can be used as an all-in-one King size bed. (See Photos showing views of options)

A/C, Furnace, Refrigerator, Microwave, Nice Wet Bath (shower & toilet together), Nice large windows with screens, Screen door, Overhead fan in living space and bathroom, Galley Kitchen with 3 burner Gas Stove & Oven. We've stocked the kitchen pretty well for cooking purposes (pots/pans/utensils/plates/cups/glasses/wine opener/can opener, small blender/toaster/coffee maker with filters, etc) but you'll need to bring your own grocery items to suit your menu - including ground coffee if you're a coffee drinker! We do have lots of spices on hand. We provide all the linens and towels you will need, an extra fan, an extra blanket, a small electric heater for cool vs. cold weather (the Furnace can be too hot for mildly cool weather) We have a portable radio since the built in one went on the blink just the other day. There is a TV with a new antenna, but this is a rural area so channels are limited. There is good Cell Phone Reception in the area, so you should be able to use your phone for wifi and as a hot spot if need be. There is property wide Wifi, but it may be a bit slower than you're used to and signal strength may vary. Oh, and there's a nice fire pit and charcoal grille outside!

I think the photos with our listing will be the most helpful in giving you the feel for the space. Remember ... special things come in small packages !

(fyi: Our professional cleaning team, Chrissy & Brian, (and this summer Lisa and I since we're going to be in Gatlinburg this summer which is really rare !) do a thorough professional cleaning between each reservation. We provide all linens, but if you're more comfortable bringing your own linens & pillows, or any other items, please feel free to do so.)

Accès des voyageurs
Guests can access all areas except the locked external storage area where we keep most of our cleaning supplies.

Autres points à prendre en note
Beds: Notice under" Bed Types" we do not have all of these different types of beds. But per our Description Info under The Space we've explained how various bed configurations can be used for the 2-3 guests staying.

Bears: Food and/or cooking food could possibly attract bears. So if you've cooked food inside, use common sense about putting it away in fridge - Be careful about sleeping with windows open at night if food smells are in the RV. Don't throw food out in the woods around the RV. This will definitely attract bears and we want to avoid that.

There are lots of small stores nearby who carry GSMNP maps and hiking maps if you need them. We left several house copies in the RV so guests can look at those while you're hanging out there.

Feel like a local! We can give you the local backroad routes to get you to the Gatlinburg entrance to the GSMNP and to or from Pigeon Forge so you'll avoid the crazy traffic congestion common to the main roads. You should have good GPS signals en route and at the Nomad Pad, though, so you'll probably do just fine on your own.

Although nestled in a beautiful rural mountain setting, you'll still have convenient access to a tiny coffee shop at the bookstore across the street (if you're into books that place is a must), eclectic eating joints, quick markets, gas, etc.

Lover of travel, nature, music, adventure, backpacking and integrating my work into my lifestyle. I'm a website designer & writer and have my own small creative company called The Lola Agency: You can look me up as Happygolola. My partner, Lisa, and I live in our small motorhome full time traveling around the U.S. I love doing my work remotely as I live a mobile lifestyle and serve clients from all over the U.S. Lisa is an awesome Occupational Therapist and works various traveling OT assignments across the country allowing her time to enjoy other interests between work assignments. We own a home in Jackson, Mississippi which is a really hip Airbnb called "The Nomad Pad: Belhaven - From HGTV to Airbnb." We love having others enjoy our beautiful, homey space. We also have a second Airbnb outside of Gatlinburg, TN at the edge of the Great Smoky Mt. National Park. In the Summer of 2019 we retired our very cool 22 year old Chinook Motorhome (which we lived in full time for 10 years) and are now renting it on Airbnb also. She is called "The Nomad Pad: Hip Tiny Lodging - Smoky Mt. NP!" I've done many professional things in my life including nursing, performing singer/songwriter, art business sales & gallery management, non-profit executive director, creative writing & design, etc. I did a lot of bicycle touring around the U.S. in my 20's, a lot of songwriting in my 30's, a lot of visual art and writing stuff in my 40's, and became a full time Nomad in my 50's! I was raised by my grandparents and always taught to have the utmost respect for others. If I had a life motto, it would be to live in the moment. Or as I heard it put once, "Don't Pickle Things." Thanks for staying with us. Have a great day and give a great day !

Although we are in Gatlinburg 2-3 months of the year, we do travel & work from our other Motorhome around the U.S. full time. We're excited for a rare opportunity to be in Gatlinburg for the summer of 2020, so we'll be around taking care of things. However, the wonderful property here is family owned and DeWayne, Barbara, and their son-in-law, Nick, are all super folks and really excited about our having The Nomad Pad and our special guests here. One of them is around all the time and happy to assist you if you need anything. If it's an RV related issue, please send us a message first, though. They are not our property managers, so all RV related stuff comes through us. I always have my phone close at hand.

You will find helpful, detailed instructions in the RV - so follow those and everything should be smooth sailing! Please follow our instructions carefully if you’re not familiar with this type of set up for daily living. It’s simple - Just unique and with its own special nuances in a few ways that you may not be used to! But that’s the fun of seeing how simple - but adequate - having less can be! I learned this in my 20’s when living on my bicycle full time and have always been drawn to the beauty of it ever since ! And Lisa is definitely the same way and even better at packing less than I do !
