This lovely, comfortable, centrally located flat is perfect for one or two, and is just a short walk (or lazier bus ride!) to pretty much everything that London has to offer. With a quiet courtyard to relax in as well, it's a perfect London base.
Smallish, but perfectly formed, one-bedroom flat in the very center of London (49 m sq.)
Fitted kitchen, including a dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave and washing machine.
Living room has two sofas, dining table and flat screen TV. Bathroom with power shower. And bedroom has lovely comfortable super-king-size bed. The flat opens onto a huge, peaceful, and semi-private, courtyard, where you can relax over breakfast, or just enjoy the sunshine...
Clerkenwell is a fantastic area, with lots of excellent cafes, restaurants and bars nearby - it has the feel of a village, but is right in the centre of the city. It's a 10 minute walk to the antique markets of Islington, 15 to St Paul's Cathedral, and another 5 from there, over the beautiful Millenium Bridge to the Tate Modern. Sadler's Wells, home of contemporary dance, is less than 10 mins walk too.
Any number of buses will whisk you to Oxford Street, Covent Garden, London's Southbank (all in about 15 mins, or walk it in 30 if you're feeling energetic), and Farringdon underground station is a 5 min walk from the flat, from where you can travel across London with ease.
It's a very safe area - so is a really good base for a solo traveller or couples. All in all, it's an absolutely lovely base for exploring London!
Accès des voyageurs
The whole flat will be given over to guests. This is my home usually - I only rent out when I'm away myself for some reason - so the flat has a personal feel, rather than an empty shell.
You are welcome to use anything in the flat, (though of course I'd be grateful if you would replace anything you finish up - eg. the coffee....Thanks.)
There will be one wardrobe with a few of my more fragile things crammed in, so please leave this one alone, but the other wardrobe will be fully available for your use.
I've never slept so well as I do here - it's so quiet and peaceful most of the time, totally belying the fact that it is in the centre of town. It is a genuinely lovely place to stay.
Any special requests - just ask....
Échanges avec les voyageurs
I will try and meet you on your arrival and give you a quick tour of the place, then I'll head off and leave you in peace. If I'm not able to be there when you arrive, then I'll arrange for a neighbour of mine to greet you. During you stay, either they or I will be around if you just have a quick query (or in the unlikely event of an emergency of any sort).
I'll also leave a kind-of 'How to' guide for the flat, together with some suggestions for places to see and visit in the area.
I can often be pretty flexible with check in and out times - so do let me know if you have a specific request.
This is a lovely, quiet area, so please do respect my neighbours and don't play really loud music or whatever after 11pm thanks!

I live and work in London - and since I have moved to this flat I walk to work and back everyday, which is one of the greatest luxuries for a Londoner...
The 6 things i can't live without are:-
Books (there are loads in the flat - feel free to read - but please replace any you take away!)
Films - there are so many fabulous cinemas in London
Music - go to the Betsy Trottwood, or The Slaughtered Lamb for local musical evenings
Food - too many restaurants to mention - though the The Gate (vegetarian) restaurant on the top of St John St is worth a special mention
Dance - Sadler's Wells is the most amazing place. I love contemporary dance, and the world's very best is shown here.
Socialising - there really are too many bars to mention around here - you can head 5 mins in any direction from the flat and find yet another wonderful bar, from the rough hewn busy Belgian bar The Dovetail, through the quirky Three Kings, and to one of the very oldest bars in London The Jerusalem - I am literally spoilt for choice
I've been hosting for about a year now, and have been a guest many times. I really like this way of travel - so much more interesting and fun to stay in a real home than in an impersonal hotel room that looks the same the world over ... I hope you enjoy my flat as much as I have enjoyed other folk's.
Oh, and a life motto ... "Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful" ... though i have to admit I'm a bit of a hoarder, so this is rather more aspirational than actual :-)
