The house was perfect - the kitchen very well equipped with all one could ever need. Comfortable bedrooms and nice bathroom with a good shower and loads of towels for use. There were four of us, and a dog, and it was the ideal size. I loved having the beach right there. The water was still warm enough for swimming, and the beach is long enough for a good walk. Just down the road, on Ile de Grand Entre, is a lovely walk to Boudreau Island, and a couple of cafes. And just down the road in the other direction is Old Harry, and a gloriously long white sandy beach. You can walk for miles. The small shingled church across the road houses an extremely good exhibition and is well worth a visit. We also spent the day on Entry Island (highly recommended, gorgeous walking), visited the Salt Mine, went to lots of galleries throughout the island, stopping for coffee and croissants along the way. We managed to find walks all over the place - one of them was to the wreck of the SS Corfu Island. There are cheese factories, fish shops, several Co-Ops, a microbrewery and the Vieux Couvent Hotel, which is a beautiful spot to stop for tea or a drink, with a fine view of Entry Island. Frankly, I cannot say enough about the house or the islands. We were there for six days and found endless things to do and see. Only negative ones would be distance to the main centres, and occasional problems with wi-fi.
Carpe Diem is just what we expected from an island get-away. It's private (but not remote), very clean, large enough for a family / friend-group, and well-stocked for home cooking and baking. We had comfortable beds, lots of towels and linens, and a drying rack; plenty of hot water, and could do laundry. I loved the bathroom sink (solid glass)! We were glad of the foyer where we could keep our outside gear and it functioned as an air-lock against letting mosquitoes into the house. I especially liked the house layout -- the kitchen is large but the seating/dining area is separate enough to keep folks from getting under-foot!. We rode our bikes from Mylene's house, as well as ferrying them to ride circuits on the other islands. I came to prefer our own location (there is a lot of island here!). While not in a village, the house has a wide view of the bay and sea and a village church (where the sun rises in the east). You can watch the lobstermen at work in the bay, walk to the tiny bakery or island pottery, and it's a short car- or bike-ride to the harbor at Grande Entree (where there are good restaurants and a lovely gift shop). There's a convenience / general store and post office within a few miles. It's nearly at the end of the main islands road, and there's practically no traffic at night. Best of all, our host Mylene was very responsive when we needed it (we were ignorant of how to get the WiFi to work but were able to figure it out with her help). We could be in touch by phone, text, or e-mail. It was a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend staying at Mylene's.
