Virginia Highland’s slogan is “the best living intown”. Developed in the late 1920’s, 30’s and 40’s most of the homes built then were bungalows and craftsman style three bedroom dwellings. During the late 60’s a federal highway was planned to bisect the neighborhood. Hotly fought by residents, the project was stopped and new residents began buying in.
My home is literally four blocks from anything you could possibly need.

Le logement
The home has shared spaces other than your private bedroom.
My home was to be part of the access road for I-485. I added 900 sq ft to the home in the 80’s. The home has about 3,000 sq ft of space, two bedrooms up and two down with a bath shared for the two bedrooms. The two bedrooms downstairs come with two antique sinks. The price for each bedroom is $45 per night. Per couple, $90.

Two bedrooms upstairs are adjacent to a great room which is fiurnished with a futon and sectional couch. There’s also a breakfast kitchen and a bar.

I worked in the neighborhood renovating and building homes on the I-485 land in the 80's. The home is three blocks from everything you could possibly need. There are probably 50 bars and restaurants on or just off Highland Ave, two blocks away. Publix, Whole Foods, Kroger (soon) are three blocks away. Trader Joe’s is about six blocks, accessed by the belt line, two blocks away. Downtown, Ga Tech, and Emory Univ are about three miles away. There are two bus stops two blocks away, #2 and #16 Access to I-78 and I-85 are less than ten minutes away, Hartsfield/Jackson Airport about 20 min, baring traffic delays.
The home has a giant commercial style kitchen, complete with a Vulcan range and stainless fictures. We’ll supply basics like coffee, tea, spices, and the usual implements if you decide to cook. There’s a gas grill available for your use also.

Accès des voyageurs
There are two bedrooms w/queen beds with sinks and a bathroom between them. $75 single, $115 double occupancy. A 3rd bedroom has a standard bed and a loft bed, $120/night There’s a large kitchen, dining room, living room front porch and garden. In the near future we will have six bedrooms available. My wife and I occupy a terrace apartment and will gladly assist you with your needs.

Autres points à prendre en note
The coin op washer and dryer are in the basement through the door in the hall off the kitchen.

Emplacement

Atlanta, Géorgie, États-Unis

As previously stated Virginia Highland is a great neighborhood that keeps evolving. Million dollar plus homes are now replacing the craftsman and bungalow homes. There are restaurants and bars galore in the neighborhood with a vast array of cuisines. Coffee shops abound. Several boutiques are located on Highland Ave, a short walk away. Piedmont Park is about eight blocks away by the Belt Line, a walking path that is being developed to ring the city on abandoned railroad lines. The Belt Line connects many adjoining neighborhoods and its only two blocks away. The walking score in the “hood” is 85. You’ll see people walking their dogs, going to the nearby yoga class or up the street to the oldest bar in Atlanta, Atkins Park.

I've owned Rose Cottage, named after the bed and breakfast my mother grew up in, on the Thames River in England, for 42 years. I've probably had over 100 guest and tenants during that time. in the 70's I built surfboards and water slides. In the 80's I renovated and built houses on the I-485 land, a proposed freeway that would have destroyed the Virginia Highland neighborhood. After renovating my home I became a landlord and continued to renovate homes, lately restoring period homes on the North Carolina coast.

My wife and I stay in a terrace apartment in the lower part of the house. We love to garden and “hang” in the neighborhood when we’re not at our place in Eastern NC. we won't hover, but will answer any questions you might have about the neighborhood or the home.
