Le logement
Columbia is located in the heart of the “Pocosins” on the Scuppernong River in the Coastal Plain of eastern North Carolina. It's a charming small village, likely as tranquil a setting as one could imagine.
Riverview is the most recent acquisition on the Pocosin Arts’ campus in the center of the small town, and is a two-bedroom facility/event space that Pocosin Arts makes available for short-term and event rentals when the space is not occupied with instructors, students and artists who participate in a variety of programs offered year-round. Riverview offers one bedroom with king bed plus one bedroom with two single beds. There is a restroom on each floor . Free parking is available for all our visitors.
Additional individual rooms are available in our facility directly across the street as the workshop schedule permits. Please see our supplemental listings in the Riverside Lodge if you might need more sleeping capacity than Riverview alone provides.
The Pocosin Arts community has been an integral part of Columbia's unique character since the school was founded in 1994. Pocosin is focused on offering a broad array of opportunities for serious artists and novices alike for students from both the local community and from across the country and abroad. Our programs are viewable on the Pocosin Arts’ website at pocosinarts.org. It describes displays the wealth of opportunities available from this singular arts institution. Airbnb guests, whether staying in Riverview or in our multiple guestrooms across the street, are encouraged to interact with our staff, instructors, students and guests who might be on premises. Our gallery and gift shop are open to the public Your Airbnb Superhost is the Executive Director of Pocosin Arts.

Accès des voyageurs
Free wi-fi is provided, and guests have use of our fully-equipped kitchens and access to all common spaces on the Pocosin Arts campus.
During most times of the year, it is possible to experience incredible sights and sounds found within a short drive of Columbia that are offered in very few other places on the planet. The welcoming boardwalk, extending for a mile into the National Wildlife Refuge along the river, begins next door at the town docks and is an idyllic stroll. The region is astoundingly rich in flora and fauna and is a flyway for migratory birds. It hosts the largest population of black bears in the U.S. and has 4 National Wildlife Refuges and several State Parks nearby for your exploration.
If you are someone interested in the arts, ask us about classes and workshops when you book - or look at our offerings on line at pocosinarts.org. There is usually something happening all the time. Pocosin brings some of the biggest talents in the visual arts world to Columbia -- and our full-time Resident Artists are fantastic instructors. If the timing is right, enroll in a class or workshop or rent access in one of our fully-equipped studios and have some studio fun during your time with us!

Autres points à prendre en note
Please note that the deck and boat slips adjacent to Riverview Lodge do not feature railings. We ask all guests to keep a careful watch over children while on the deck.
Columbia is home to three locally-owned cafes, a coffee shop, and a fresh-daily seafood market. The closest basic grocery store, is 8/10ths of a mi. away. The historic attractions and beaches of NC's famed Outer Banks are only an hour's drive.

Pocosin is an Algonquin word meaning Swamp on a Hill. It accurately describes much of the land area in the Albemarle-Pamlico Estuarine System. The area is the second largest estuary in area on the US mainland and the most important fish nursery ground on the US Atlantic Coast. It is a sparsely populated area where the dominate land uses are agriculture and natural resource protection.

Columbia, NC is a charming town on the Scuppernong River, adjacent to the Pocosin National Wildlife Refuge. Beginning at the river on Main Street, one can enjoy a stroll along the Boardwalk or walk east up Main St. to restaurants, Pocosin Arts Contemporary Craft Gallery and studios, Maggie Dukes Antiques, Columbia Theater and museum and more. Columbia has a great visitor's center and is the gateway to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, a short 45 minutes east on Highway 64.

Because we are right next to the Scuppernong River, I can easily indulge in one of my favorite outdoor activities, kayaking. The river and surrounding flora and fauna offer endless inspiration for creative pursuits and outdoor recreation.
