Camp grits offers stylishly vintage accommodation for two in our 6 x 6 x 12 foot red 1959 Shasta camper. The camper is nestled among the big sweet gum trees in our woodland/ yard. Relax here after hiking in the Smokies, or walking around Gatlinburg.

Le logement
Hello and Welcome! Please read entire description as to know what to fully expect.
Our little vintage camper 'Bonanza Jellybean' gives you a taste of real camping; cooking over an open fire, with the added luxury of sleeping under soft vintage linens and drinking your french pressed coffee in the emerald green morning light.
The camper sleeps two on the full bed, and the dinette can be folded down to accommodate another. This camper is best if you are under 6 foot tall.
The camper also comes with electric lights, a propane stove, a heater to keep the chill off in winter, and a small fan to cut the summer humidity.

Accès des voyageurs
The bathroom amenities are simple yet lovely. The outhouse is built of reclaimed poplar, its windows are English leaded glass from the arts and crafts era. "It's so easy to use, just use plenty of pine shavings when your done". The Bath house is equally lovely with claw foot tub and propane heated shower. In the colder months you can light a fire under the bath and have yourself a 'hillbilly hot tub'. The bathroom is a hop skip from the camper. Also worth noting, there is no cell phone access at our place but if you need to make an emergency call feel free to use our land line or our internet. Otherwise you will be able to get service about 4 miles up the road.

Autres points à prendre en note
Breakfast for the next morning will be at your campsite when you arrive; tea and coffee fixings, homemade bread, an egg each from our happy hens , and a jar of oat or almond milk . Eggs and milk will be stocked up the duration of your stay. Breakfast can be cooked over the campfire or propane stove inside the camper.
Please bring your own firewood which can be bought at Donna Joe's Subway just a quarter mile down 321 (take a left at the top of Rocky Flats road).

Our neighborhood has the feel of being in the middle of a forest, beautiful sprawling poplar trees mixed with white and Georgia pines, but alas we are in a neighborhood complete with barking dogs, crowing roosters, and friendly helpful neighbors.
Camp grits is located only 15 minutes from the Greenbriar entrance into the park , which has hikes to majestic waterfalls and authentic cabins and farm buildings. Gatlinburg is only 25 minutes away...and has about as much Americana as you would want from old timely photo booths, flapjack houses and hill billy golf (of course).

I am an British artist who used to make work about the relationship between English folklore, and the new American Gothic; and now find myself homesteading in a shady holler in the Tennessee mountains. We (myself, husband Jim and then not quite one year old son Kestrel) moved out to Cosby in early November 2013. Camp Grits is our labour of love. We work from home building structures, working the garden and entertaining Kestrel with mushroom identification and (harmless) snake hunting. In our sacred spare time I paint other worldly landscapes, and Jim writes equally dark poems. We like to cook, we especially love that time when the pantry is looking bare and you have to use your most creative beans to prepare something pretty and edible. It's amazing what you can come up with, as long as there's curry powder left in the spice rack. Jim is very well read in the classics..I'm very well read in kooky fiction from the 70's (Tom Robbins). Jim likes direct honesty brimming on tactlessness. I like to make light of things. We look forward to meeting you too.
