Live like a Cascade Mts. frontier lumber baron in a renovated, private, cozy river home. It has 3 bedrooms upstairs, and a room downstairs with a unique triple bunk bed for kids. Trout can be caught in backyard all summer. Rate is for HOUSE; not room
Sip your morning coffee and read a book in an adirondack chair beside the cold clear Santiam river. This is THE original house in the area, built by the owner of the mill in 1942. Originally, the mill race was in the front with the log pond and a generator provided power to Detroit and Idanha. The home was on an island at one time.
Accès des voyageurs
Enjoy fishing in the backyard, swimming or boating at Detroit Lake, or hiking in the immediate vicinity. Many mountain streams and lakes are in the area. The river in our backyard is stocked within sight at Church street bridge throughout the summer months, so you really can't beat that!
We are not renting rooms but rather the whole house for no more than 8 people total. You will be alone with your group. Access to Detroit Lake, Oregon's most popular, is also just a few miles downstream. But the advantage to our place is that it's quiet, private, and on a year round river that is gorgeous.

We do not meet our guests, except through email. We are NOT renting rooms. You get the house and the river's peace to yourself. We prefer up to 6 guests, no more than 8 total. Please note that this is a remote location with no WiFi, phone, or TV service. We have many DVDs a few games, puzzles, and books to enjoy. You can get an email or phone call from the riverside or hwy 22, more reliably.
No pets. Your dog is not an exception so please do not ask or ignore this rule. This is important for our home, your pet, and other guests. Cell reception is spotty at best. No more than 8 guests at a time. We limit headcount to keep things quiet!
No smoking and no pets at the house please. Six to eight maximum guests. This is a serene, antique river house, and we are not catering to noisy events. ALL trash must be removed on your departure. Note: there is no wifi or reliable wireless coverage at the immediate house, but there is up the hill. The house uses a septic system, so NO FOOD scraps down the sink, please.

My wife and I live in the NW now but we are originally from the Midwest. We enjoy restoring older homes in our spare time and are working on our fourth project. Professional flippers, we are not! Ellen is a social worker and I'm a corporate communication design consultant.
We enjoy traveling (like everyone else on AirBnB) and we enjoy sharing our properties located in beautiful Oregon off-the-beaten-path places. We're both too busy to worry about a 'life motto' for AirBnB, though we do appreciate guests and hosts who keep things clean. Thanks!
