Even though it took us 2 hours to get to this bungalow, it was a cute accommodation. Before driving to this small quiet town, make sure you are in a four wheel drive, trust us, you will need it to reach her house up the steep rocky hill. We enjoyed the small city and the local bar down the street. We thought at first it was going to be perfect, unfortunately we had some flaws in our stay. You have to be okay with a cat and 2 dogs, which are friendly. Ursula showed us around her place and explained what was available before she left. Once we arrived it started to rain, be prepared for mosquitos and take a lot of bug spray. In this small town, there are not many options when it comes to eating. Luckily, my boyfriend and I had brought some food with us to last us until the morning. The place had a small kitchen we were able to cook at, a fridge, a bathroom- needs a little TLC, and 2 bedrooms. We only stayed their one night. Before night hit, we went to a small local bar down the hillfor nice cold refreshments. The bar owner showed us a great time. Then coming back, we had an unwelcomed visitor, a rat! Luckily the cat chased it away. We went into the bedroom and when we were getting ready for bed, we noticed, we were just sleeping on a cot mattress on the floor with a bug net full of spiders. It was not my best night’s sleep on the trip. I think this place would be perfect for someone outdoorsy and prepared for unexpected situations.

This is not for everyone. My host, Briony, was super nice and provided great company! However, the amenities are limited to: a gas stove; electricity; and cold, non-potable running water. Almost zero cellphone reception and no internet. As this is in the rainforest, bugs and some mustiness/mold ARE a problem and you will be sleeping on the floor on a matress without a mosquito net. Thankfully the mosquitos were very, very limited! This is an interesting place to stay with a FANTASTIC view, but know what you're getting into first. I'd love to visit again to swing in the hammocks on the front porch and pick fresh oranges from the trees next to the cabin, but I won't be staying overnight.
