Great location, great place, even if lacking a bit of natural light. Great host.

The apartment was small and basic but just right for our long weekend in Taos. Elizabeth and her partner were welcoming and immediately responsive to our questions and requests.

Adorable small apartment, great location, ample room and great kitchen! Sadly we stayed for just two days and had no time to linger.

If you are looking into staying here, PLEASE take the time to read this review. I'll start out with the positives - this house is located extremely close to town/Taos Plaza, so it's great if you are looking for walking distance to activities. Elizabeth & Ray are very sweet and helpful, and made sure that we had everything we needed. This house is very small, but it was the perfect size for me, my boyfriend, and our medium sized dog. As for the negatives, there were quite a few. First off, this small home is not "behind" their house as it says in the listing, but rather attached to the back of it. So there isn't much privacy as their main door is only a few feet away from your main door. Upon arrival, the house was not clean... as soon as we took our shoes off our feet picked up a considerable amount of dirt off the tile floors. As we poked around the kitchen, we found old pizza boxes filled with crusts shoved into the oven. We also had to wash almost all of the silverware and pots before use because they were greasy. In the bedroom, I had to wipe out the closet shelves before we put our clothes in. At this point we were a bit uncomfortable and disappointed with the cleanliness of the house, as we expected it to be a little nicer considering the large amount we paid to stay (our stay was one month long). A few days later, we were woken up by the sound of something scrambling around the hot water heater closet. Our dog is extremely instinctive, so he was investigating for hours... it was mice. There were droppings all over the closet, in the cabinets under the sink, and worst of all - in the storage space where "clean" linens were stored. The mice even got into some of our food, and drove our dog crazy... which drove us crazy while trying to sleep at night. Another issue was the amount of spiders found in the house... from big to small they were on the floor, in our bed, and on our bodies. One of them was a black widow, so if you're not a fan of spiders this is not the place for you. When I contacted Elizabeth about the rodent issue, she said that she hesitates to put chemicals down due to the dogs her tenants usually have. Which is totally understandable, but staying in a home for a month with mice is not fun, so surely something should be done. Another problem was the stove, the pilot light kept going out and we never knew until we walked into the house and the smell of propane was chokingly strong. Not fun. Toward the end of our stay, there was a rainstorm that went throughout the night. Unfortunately we got to enjoy it while sleeping - the skylight, which is located directly over the bed, began to...

I cleaned the apartment myself before they moved in and know that the floors were swept and mopped and Sarah's description of a dirty apartment is exaggerated. There were no mice before they moved in, probably attracted to the dog food. I offered Sarah a professional exterminator service which she declined. She mentioned value for the price a few times, even after I had given her a couple of extra nights free. Please look at the other positive reviews to see this bad one in context.

I really enjoyed my stay for two months in the casita. The hosts are very accommodating and considerate. The location is ideal because it is in walking distance to the Taos Plaza and other popular attractions. The casita was cozy, clean, and decorated lovely artwork by the host. I had a wonderful experience in Taos along with my dog.

I live next door and am available much of the time and always contactable by phone. I am happy to recommend places to visit and restaurants etc.
The reviews reflect the dogs that used to live next door that barked at times - I am very happy to say that the dogs have moved away.

À propos de Elizabeth
