This cozy 3 bedroom lakeside deck house is perfect for a small family (DOG friendly!) to spend a weekend, a week or a whole month. Nestled in the woods near Cold Spring, NY on the Hudson River, an hour and 20 minutes from Manhattan. COMPLETELY open to negotiation of time.
This is a place to get away. The Fahnestock State Park trails are in our back yard. You're close to DIA Beacon, to the Hudson River, to Boscobel, to summer farmer's markets, to a great apple orchard... We play tennis in good weather, skate on the lake in winter and swim or kayak in it in the summer. The area is comprised of good people who choose to live there away from city life, and you should want to visit for the same reason. You will need transportation. It is 15 minutes from the train station, but it requires a car or motorbike. Some come on bicycle, but they were super athletes, and a few have come without cars (by taxi,) but they bring all they need and never leave until the end of their stay.

This is a home away from home for my family, and we hope to provide what you need. I can arrange to have pretty much anything you might want, but it is a fully stocked kitchen, and you can hang out on the deck or by the fireplace.

I'm happy to greet you, but I'm really only here if you ask, as I live part-time in Manhattan. I have a manager who lives nearby if something goes wrong. I do vet every guest so that my neighbors can be assured that you are a good person, so you will need to have been reviewed and be willing to be scrutinized.
COMPLETELY open to negotiation of time. This is not a house for HUGE groups. It's ideal for couples, good friends or small families. There is a set of steps inside and outside, so you'll need to be mobile. We have a preference for longer term commitments, are willing to negotiate shorter time than a week in the summer but never fewer than TWO night stays. We will negotiate the rate for longer stays based on your dates. Holiday weekends require a three to seven night stay.
Treat the place like your own home. We want you to be comfortable and happy, and have stocked the place with paper products, coffee, tea and most staples, but if you use the last of something, please tell us. We have firewood, but if you want to burn a fire, ask that you stop on your way up and bring a bundle of logs to contribute to the pile. If you have small children, you will want to buy some reinforcement for the deck to protect them. Dogs are welcome, but they should be house trained and social with other dogs if you plan to let them roam. You have to keep an eye on them, and in summer be vigilant about ticks. (Sorry, I'm allergic to cats.) You may entertain, but it's not a place for a loud hard party. Treat my neighbors with respect. This is their residence and they are our friends. We are strict about smoking. Please don't rent this place if you are a smoker or plan to invite them to visit. We are a wooded area and even walking away from the house to smoke is not acceptable. And finally, in the kitchen are some laminated rules that our neighborhood association enforces (a copy of which you will have after you make your payment to airbnb.) The neighbors are mostly lovely people, but they don't hesitate to enforce the rules, or call me to ask me to do so.
