The living room is fully fitted out with everything you'll need to relax or have fun, including a huge library of English books, a wifi-connected stereo, big-screen TV, and Apple TV. There's a Wii, 2 PS2's (Japanese & American) with plenty of games for videogame geeks to enjoy!
***Please note: The room pictured is the room upstairs. You will stay in the room on the first floor. It is the same size and almost identical to the room pictured, but with a slightly bigger double bed.***
This part of Nakano is a super convenient place to live, with everything you need nearby, a huge selection of restaurants within an easy walk, and excellent varied transport options. It's so close to the shopping and entertainment hubs of Shinjuku, Koenji, Ikebukuro or Shibuya, but it still has the nice semi-suburban feel typical of inner-city Tokyo, with several large parks and green spaces nearby and an eclectic mix of wide broadways and tiny narrow backstreets.
Located only a few minutes walk to the nearest Metro subway station (Marunouchi line), with very frequent direct 6 minute subway access to all of Shinjuku, or 15 minutes walk to Nakano (for the JR Chuo/Sobu lines and Tozai Toei Subway line).
The Marunouchi line is also one of the most popular metro lines, because it runs right across the city to Tokyo station, passing through famous places like Akasaka and Ginza, and then looping back to Ikebukuro via more famous tourist spots such as Ochanomizu and Korakuen (Tokyo Dome).
There are one to two bicycles available for guests to rent to explore the area or go places easily and cheaply, but advance booking is needed, so please inquire about their availability at the time of booking!
There are also frequent buses to access many more places, such as Shimokitazawa, Koenji, Shinjuku, Shibuya and more, with stops going in each direction on several of the nearby main roads!
Taxis drive along the nearby main road frequently, even at night time. Including the late night 20% surcharge, it's about ¥2000 by taxi to/from the Shinjuku Kabuki-cho and 2-Chome entertainment areas, and cheaper in the daytime.
There is a convenience store just around the corner, two dry-cleaning services within a 1-2 minute walk, a coin-laundry just up the street for washing big or unusual things like shoes, a regular post office ~3 minutes walk away, and a 24hr post office about 12 minutes walk. All the convenience stores near the house (4 within a 1-3min walk!) have a 24hr ATM that accepts most international cards.
The house has a cleaner that visits twice a week to clean common areas, so the house is always very nice and clean!
There are long term residents staying in the 2 other rooms. A British, and an Australian. They're all super chill, very cool people who have lived in Japan for a long time.
If more than 2 guests want to stay, a very comfortable double air bed is available, but the room is a little squeezy with it on the floor, so we generally have these guests sleep in the living room. Please ask at time of reservation.
There's cheap overnight coin parking around the corner from the house if you come by car. 8pm - 8am, ¥500.
