We had a wonderful stay in Gabriella's apartment overlooking the pool. Antonio showed us around the rest of the building when we got there as we were fascinated by the fabulous historic palazzo - they've done a wonderful job restoring it. He also gave us some great local suggestions for both eating and places to visit. The pool apartment was lovely - good size for a family of 4, and well equipped kitchenette. The pool are was very nice and well maintained and we had it to ourselves most of the week! We loved Alessano as well - it's small and quiet but a few places for a drink and a nice trattoria round the corner. It's a great springboard to see other towns in southern Puglia as well, and there are some real gems not too far away. Gabriella was great at responding to any queries quickly and efficiently.
This palazzo is a great location in the south of Puglia. Our apartment was very charming and provided enough space for two adults and two children. Around the shared pool we always found enough deck chairs and it was never crowded. Alessano is very conveniently located between the rocky east coast and the sandy west coast and within easy reach of many small towns and larger cities. During our stay we had dinner in Specchia, Tricase, Gallipoli, Galatina Otranto and Lecce, so we were never out of options! Antonio was always at hand for recommendations for restaurants, beaches and towns to visit, and any local information on current events and festivals. Should we ever consider going back to Salento for our holidays, this palazzo would definitely be our first choice.
We had a great stay at Alessano. It's a lovely little old Italian town with a small square, some cafes and a really nice Trattoria (da Eleonora) just around the corner of the house. Parking is easy really near to the house. The house itself and the apartment we stayed in is beautiful and careful and well decorated? Mis modern with original style. The beds are really good and the kitchen has everything you need. We had two lovely french balcony's looking out to the pool. The pool is nice with sun beds and a table. You share the pool with about 3 other apartments in the Palazzo. No wifi in our room but there was wifi in the hallway. You don't have a private outside space but there is enough room next to the pool. All in all a really great stay! Marieke
