Set in the foothills of the Ruahine Ranges, this 100 year old homestead is a welcome reprieve from the hustle and bustle of city life. The extremely private property is surrounded by an extensive garden and the beautiful Makaretu river valley. The trees are home to a spectacular variety of bird life including kereru, bellbirds and moreporks who swoop through the deck at night. Part of the property that borders the river has been put into QEII reserve and is full of native flora and fauna.
This is the perfect spot to come and relax in the garden, by the open fire or as a gateway to explore the Ruahine Ranges and all they have to offer.
The menagerie of animals add to the character of the property, with chickens, ducks, pet sheep, pigs, horses and a very friendly dog who all love a bit of attention. We also welcome any furry companions you may have with you by negotiation. Please ask us if you have any queries about bringing your pets be it a horse, dog or anything in between.
In the surrounding area are a number of boutique vineyards including Junction run by John and Jo Ashworth just a 10 minute drive away. Their award-winning wines and warm hospitality are not to be missed.
Norsewood is our closest town about 10 minutes drive away. Dannevirke and Waipukurau approximately a half hour drive where you can find restaurants, cafes, supermarkets and anything else you may need.
We will provide breakfast - homemade muesli, toast and a selection of spreads, coffee, tea or juice. We can offer other meals by arrangement.
