Tout sur le logement de Bronwen

Prospect@Premaydena is a comfortable and relaxing rural retreat located on a 2 ha hilltop property overlooking the calm expansive waters of Norfolk Bay.

We are situated on a quiet rural road surrounded by natural bushland and neighbouring farmland. The property has stunning views over Norfolk Bay and the ranges beyond.

This peaceful and natural setting provides an ideal retreat for those seeking relaxation and is a perfect base for exploring all that the Tasman Peninsula has to offer.

Le logement
As soon as you step inside, you will feel the relaxed and cheerful vibe of your accommodation. Being both a little bit quirky and a little bit classy, it has been created to make you feel comfortable and cared for.

The living area is a bright open space overlooking a delightful garden and is warmed by a cosy wood-fuelled heater - or for more instant warmth, there is a split-system unit. The kitchen area is well-equipped with a lovely Tassie oak benchtop, induction cooktop and full size oven. Provisions such as coffee, tea, sugar, condiments, spreads and olive oil are available in the pantry and milk and yoghurt in the fridge. Fresh eggs from our chooks (provided they are laying!) and what’s in season from the veggie garden and orchard will also be available.

Immediately outside the front entrance to the accommodation is a lovely garden where you are likely to observe yellow-throated, black-headed and New Holland honeyeaters splashing in the bird bath and blue wrens and scarlet chested robins flitting about the bushes. Kookaburras, thrushes, wattlebirds and green rosellas also frequent the garden and occasionally wedge-tailed eagles can be seen soaring above.

From your bedroom windows you can look out beyond the garden to the nearby hills and catch a glimpse of the waters of Norfolk Bay and, if you’re so inclined, enjoy some stunning sunrises. At night, you may hear wallabies and little pademelons hopping around just outside in the driveway.

While the space can sleep up to 4 people, it is ideally suited for 2 people - or a single person. The sofa bed is in the living area and is reasonably comfortable for children or a person of average weight. It’s probably less than ideal for a couple or a person of a heavier weight.

Although attached to the main house, the retreat is self-contained with its own entrance (through a private garage for your car), and you can come and go as you please. However, you are welcome to knock at the door of the house and let us know if we can assist you in anyway to ensure that your stay is enjoyable. We are also available via text message, mobile phone or email.

Pour vous situer

Premaydena, Tasmanie, Australie

The Tasman Peninsula is a very scenic area offering visitors a diverse range of activities, all of which are within a 20-25 minute drive from our accommodation.

THINGS TO DO
While the World Heritage-listed Port Arthur Historic Site is the major attraction for many tourists and is definitely worth spending a day at, there are plenty of other places of interest and things to do.

Take a leisurely drive and enjoy the natural beauty of the area, from the many quiet coves with their photogenic tidal flats along the shores of Norfolk Bay and the glorious sandy stretches of beach at Pirates Bay, White Beach and Slopen Main, to the dramatic towering dolerite columns and other fascinating rock formations of the Tasman seacliffs coast featuring the tallest seacliffs in the Southern Hemisphere. Alternatively, you could view this spectacular coastline from the water by taking a boat trip with Pennicott Wilderness Journeys or from the air with Osborne Helitours, both of which I can very highly recommend.

For those who want an active outdoors experience, there is no shortage of opportunities. The peninsula boasts some outstanding bushwalks including the popular (multi day) Three Capes Track, Cape Hauy Track and Cape Raoul Track or shorter walks such as Waterfall Bay or the Convict Coal Mines Circuit. Note: a National Park Pass is required for walks accessed via Tasman National Park.

Other outdoor activities on offer include surfing, kayaking, rockclimbing, sailing, fishing, paragliding and diving.

Outings for families include the Tasmanian Devil Unzoo and Rosedale Homestead, both at Taranna.

Other places of interest include the McHenry Distillery, the southernmost distillery in Australia, the Port Arthur Lavender Farm, the Convict Coal Mines Historic Site at Saltwater River and The Pear Shed Gallery at Parsons Bay near Nubeena.

EATING OUT
If you’re heading down to the Peninsula around lunchtime, Bangor Vineyard Shed, just south of Dunalley, offers a very appealing lunch menu and quality wines. Further along at Eaglehawk Neck, the Blue Seal Cafe offers gourmet pies, fish’n’chips and curries.
Closer to the accommodation, The Pickers Pantry on Parsons Bay just out of Nubeena is open from 9.30am - 3pm on weekends serving a great range of homemade items including pies and quiches - the venison pie is very hearty - good coffee and very delicious cakes and biscuits. They also serve ice creams and milkshakes. It is a lovely to sit there amongst the pear trees overlooking Parsons Bay.
Other lunch spots include The Lavender Farm at Port Arthur, Rosedale Homestead at Taranna and Lufra at Eaglehawk Neck.
The 1830 Restaurant at the Historic Site at Port Arthur provides an enjoyable fine dining experience for dinner (Thursday - Saturday).
Excellent coffee can be found at Cubed Espresso at the Tasman Seacliffs Lookout just before Eaglehawk Neck and, especially on a clear day, the outlook is gorgeous.

Let’s own it! I’m one of that much-maligned species known as Boomer! But don’t hold that against me, as a traveller, you’ll find I’m a very considerate guest and as a host I strive to make you feel as welcome and comfortable as possible. I love good food and wine and dogs and the beauty of the natural world and do my best to help preserve it.
