Your retro 2-bedroom getaway feels like a quiet vacation bungalow, complete with a full wall of glass windows, vaulted ceiling with cozy spaces, and a house full of art. All while still being in a perfect location. Walking distance to NC State or Centennial Campus or just a 5 minute bike ride to downtown.

A private 2 bedroom (1 queen, 1 twin), 1 bath space with a full kitchen and living room.

Le logement

Your entrance is at the front of the property. This cozy airbnb house is attached to the house where Aly and Beth live. The two spaces are attached but are entirely separate living spaces with private entrances.

The front house (where you will be) was original to the neighborhood development in the 1940's and was purchased by renowned architect, James Fitzgibbon, who renovated it heavily, gave it his own take on mid-century modern, and then added a modernist cube to the back where Aly and Beth live.

The neighborhood is small, quirky and sweet and backs up to a huge area of majestic oaks and green space, Dorothea Dix Park. We are walking distance to Pullen Park, a beautiful and fun park for kids, complete with carousel, paddle boats and a mini passenger train.

Échanges avec les voyageurs

If we are in town, we can interact with and help our guests however you see fit. We also work within 5 minutes of the house, so are easily accessible should needs arise. We will likely see each other as we come in and out, but definitely respect your privacy. We have 2 small children and a dog in our space.

Autres remarques

Do you have pet allergies?: We have a dog on the premises who is sometimes in the apartment space with us when people are not renting. There has not been a cat in the apartment.

Apartment is at the front of the property, accessible only by stairs.

We have a queen air mattress if needed.
We have a play yard for toddler use.

Charming home minutes from downtown and NC State. We stayed for several weeks while our home was being remodeled and it was a great experience. I would highly recommend Beth and Aly's place.

The house was a nice space, with the kitchen well appointed with all that we needed and some food basics supplied too which really appreciated after a long journey. We had our 7 month old baby with us and Beth had supplied extras including a travel cot and high chair, which was great. It was a nice neighbourhood and convenient for me to cycle in to the vet school as well as the city centre. The big issue we had was that fleas emerged during our visit. Beth and Aly dealt with this as promptly as possible but unfortunately the pest control company must have misunderstood the situation and treated with a sterilization chemical instead of killing them... It all became a massive headache and we checked out early, for which Beth did reimburse us. I am sure Beth will resolve the fleas ASAP & put effort in to making sure this doesn't happen again.

Hi Rose. I hope the rest of your stay in Raleigh was uneventful - in a good way. I feel quite bad about the comfort of your stay being interrupted so significantly, and compounded by the fact that the pest control did, indeed, get it wrong about the expected appropriate solution. For those of you following along, yes, we had a very unfortunate flea problem in the house while Rose and her family visited. We have never had the problem before and our dog does not have fleas...I've been rather obsessive about checking her ever since we realized the issue. We tried to be very careful about what product we used, especially since a sweet little baby was one of our guests. I talked at length with our regular pest control service, which is a sustainable service, about a non-poisonous extermination. Although it seemed they understood, after a bunch of money spent and the end of the 4 hours necessary to be out of the house, there were still fleas. Upon calling the service to say "wha?" they let us know that the product was a sterilization product and takes a few days to work! "Really?" Yes. Really. Ugh. Sadly and completely understandably, Rose and her family, decided to find another place to stay. I did what I could to make their transition as easy as possible. And we have since flea bombed the heck outta the place. I have also done my research on other airbnb and hotel suite options in the area so I will be prepared should an emergency arise in the future. Sorry, Rose and family!

Really unique space! The design of the space was really beautiful, quirky and colorful. Beth was great, greeting us at arrival and checking in on things over the course of our visit. The location is a nice little neighborhood, just about a 5 minute drive to downtown Raleigh. Highly recommended place!

Great place! Tons of natural light coming through the trees. Really great place to be productive and get work done in a quirky, quiet neighborhood. Enjoyed my stay and would love to do it again next time I come through Raleigh!

Beth was a fabulous host! She is very easy to communicate with and had some wonderful suggestions of restaurants and things to do with children. The location is fantastic - a super short drive to downtown and so close to everything else we had planned to do. The house is very cool - comfortable and clean. It was fun to stay in such a unique home!

Hi! My husband and I have lived in Raleigh for over 15 years. We are both designers, and have a product design and branding consultancy downtown. We love to travel and are continuously inspired by the creativity of the people we know and meet - whether it is at home or away. We have 2 children and a dog, so our lives are full of fun, noise and chaos.

That photo I use for this profile cracks me up. We're at an airport (I think) and my husband is obviously on a very serious phone call. Dunno who the super creepy dude is in far background...
