WELCOME LIL HAZEL! Baby alpaca Born 6-6-21, she’s our cutest addition yet! Get 'em up Cowboy! This spacious RV with slide-out is decorated in a cute Western décor, which is what Sunset Rock Ranch is all about! Visit with our alpacas, Vanilla and Latte. Meet George WA, our gorgeous Tom turkey and his harem! Enjoy some PRIVACY ON 1/2 acre to yourself!BBQ some steaks. Let the kids get dirty while you relax watching exploding sunsets and listen to quail peeping, turkey's gobbling and coyotes howling!

Le logement
Our Cowboy-style RV has a queen, two convertible beds, and bunks for the kiddos. Enjoy a quiet cup of coffee as the sun rises over Cuyamaca Mountains or watch the sun set over Mt Woodson while enjoying a glass of wine from one of The Valley of the Sun's famous wineries.

For sale to enhance your memories: Alpaca Beans for fertilizer and to make plant tea $10. Fresh Lavender bushels $10. FRESH, like fresh today, beautiful eggs at eight dollars per dozen. Often you get to gather them yourself! Between December and June we have wood and fire starters for open pit fire $10 per night. Let us know how many nights of wood you want and we will have it ready for you.

Wake up in the morning to the sounds of wildlife preparing for the day: Red-Tail Hawks screaming as they hunt for breakfast; California Quail chirruping a good morning to their clan. The turkeys will gobble you up, the chickens will cluck and ‘The Girls’, Latte n Vanilla, will be humming, as they wait for their breakfast and the adventure to begin. The world is going into motion, so pick your favorite breakfast beverage (coffee tea or hot chocolate) and snack (typical: granola bars, cereal, nuts) from our selection included with your stay as you soak in the tranquil beauty and stunning views of back-country Ramona.

When you’ve had your fill of a relaxing morning, maybe even helpin’ with chores, plan your day of hiking, riding and saddle up for a day of adventure. Our property is set near the towering Gower Mountain and beautiful Cuyamaca Reserve and Cleveland National Forest. Ride down the Nature Trail to Cedar Creek Falls and Devils Punchbowl or make it a longer day and ride to Three Sisters Falls or any of the 500+ miles of trails accessible from your corral. Choose easy fire roads, mild paths, or venture onto rugged & challenging single-tracks. You’ll find yourself meandering along under a canopy of ancient California Oaks and rustling eucalyptus trees or on hillsides spotted with sage, manzanita and scrub. This is nature, so do watch out for snakes and poison oak or a very occasional cougar alert. If you go on residential trails, be aware of moving vehicles and barking dogs.

Be sure to visit a local winery then enjoy the gas firepit or wood burning fire pit as you watch blazing sunsets over a sweeping view of the valley below and Mount Woodson across The Valley of The Sun. As night falls, the wild turkeys will gobble their way home, and the ravens will squabble for their favorite branch, and the coyotes will start an occasional yap-fest as they teach their young ones to hunt.

When darkness descends, be amazed at the skyshow of stars where light pollution is minimal. Bed down and listen to ‘country quiet’ for a great night’s rest, and start it all again the next day. Be sure to book several nights so you can experience the beauty of nature…just a few miles ‘up-the-hill’ in Ramona.

Head up to Dudley’s Bakery or Julian for some fall fun! With spectacular views of Mount Gower and Cleveland National Forest to the north, Cuyamaca Reserve and Cuyamaca Mountains to the east, and sparkling valley views with Mount Woodson in the distance to the west, there is no more space more beautiful than our piece of heaven here at Sunset Rock Ranch. This is a family affair with Miss Stacey making your comfy beds. You'll see Grandpa Bill dusting his car (for the 4th time that day) or heading into the rising morning on his motorcycle. Grandma Sandy will be sneaking the critters a carrot or an apple. Miss Deborah is your hostess-with-the-mostest and manages the ranch bookings and the cute decorating touches. Mr. Tim is our all-around fix-everything man-on-the-ranch; we dream it up and he puts it into action. Miss Stacey shows you the live by managing all the beautiful landscaping and cutting your fresh lavender.

Access roads are easy paved public and private roads; no dirt road potholes here! Sorry, we do not have horses available for rent, but there are some rent-horse options around.

Ramona can be HOT and COLD and occasionally windy...this is a country ranch experience, so please prepare accordingly. And there can be snakes, bugs, and odors. All part of getting in the great outdoors!

You won’t want to leave the ranch, but if you decide to explore, try golfing at San Vicente Golf Course or world-famous Mount Woodson. Go antiquing along Main Street's dozens of antique shops. Do a tour of our many local wineries here in the Valley of the Sun. Take a quick drive for Dudley’s Bread and Julian Pie. Shake some dice at Barona Casino, or do a one-hour drive and head down-the-hill to Sea World, LegoLand, San Diego Safari Park, San Diego Zoo.

Golly, Pardner! What ISN"T there to do here? Hike & ride right off the ranch for hours. Antique shops along Ramona Main Street (Deborah has stuff at Iron Pony, so start there, or course!), great breakfast, lunch & dinner venues. Catch bands playing nearly every night at one of the local restaurants. From the property, there are over 500 miles for you to bike, hike, and soon we will be offering pipe corrals for your equine buddies! Two golf courses are here in the valley. 25 wineries call The Valley of the Sun home. Head 'up the hill' for famous Julian Pie or 'down the hill' for all that the 'city' has to offer!
