Our long weekend at David and LaVonne's Pool House was one of the best vacations we have ever had. They are wonderful, hospitable hosts. The Pool House is a relaxing space with everything we needed to feel at home. Our favorite part was the deck overlooking the Columbia River and the gorge. There is nothing quite like drinking a bottle of local wine and eating fresh picked cherries while watching the sunset over the river. We hope to make it back to Oregon again some day, and we will definitely try to stay at David and LaVonne's!

A lovely "pool house" on a hillside overlooking the gorge. Having the pool right in front of the cottage is great....we wish we would have had more hot days for pool time. The light from all the windows and doors is fabulous, even with gray days. Proximity to hiking and bike rides on the gorge makes it a great home base. The owners are a lovely couple who are easy to communicate with and welcomed us warmly. The only caveat is that Mosier, like many Gorge communities, puts you close to the highway and the railway, resulting in a constant, distant noise.

David and LaVonne were excellent hosts. They were very attentive to any needs we might have had and gave great recommendations for activities within the surrounding area. LaVonne was gracious enough to show us a trail that picked up right from their property and let to a beautiful waterfall with a swimming hole, which I can say was quite refreshing on a warm day. There is so much to do in the area but if you want to have a more relaxing trip, hanging out by the pool or throwing the ball around with their sweet dog are great options too. The home was very comfortable and having access to a washer and dryer was an added perk. Thank you again for a wonderful stay! We will definitely be back!

David and LaVonne are gracious and welcoming hosts, and their pool house was a beautifully efficient space for our weekend stay. The view from their property is spectacular, and the kids had a great time visiting with David and LaVonne's very friendly dog, Max. The well-stocked kitchen is great for cooking - we even entertained some friends for dinner. Highly recommend this beautiful spot for your next Gorge trip!

We had a terrific time in Mosier at David & LaVonne's. They made us feel very welcome but gave us our privacy. The pool house was well stocked with everything we could possibly need (kitchen essentials, grill, champagne, blankets, plenty of towels) and even came with an Energizer dog who we loved. It has beautiful views into the hills and towards the river. We wouldn't hesitate to come back!

We had a wonderful stay at the Pool House thanks to David & LaVonne's hospitality and its proximity to the Gorge. There are great views of the Columbia and the property is adjacent to the Mosier Plateau hiking area. It's also within walking distance of Mosier. David and LaVonne were very helpful with check-in, despite our later arrival. The beds and futon are quite comfortable and the kitchen includes everyone you might need.

Profil utilisateur de David & LaVonneDavid & LaVonne est un Superhost.

David and Lavonne are retired educators. David was a University Professor in Community & Regional Planning. Lavonne was a Primary School teacher. They both enjoy skiing and for their first 14 years of retirement they taught skiing in Sun Valley, Idaho.
When they retired (2000) they sold their family home in Eugene, Or. and moved to the Columbia River Gorge for more sunshine, windsurfing, skiing, fishing, biking and outdoor work tending their 7.5 acres of cherry orchard and natural growth Pine and Oak trees. To support their love for outdoor activities and continue to improve their Mosier acreage they rent two independent lodging spaces separate from their Main House to seasonal visitors to the Columbia River Gorge. Over the years their renters have become part of their "family" with whom they keep in touch in the off-season months.
The Poveys love "their place on the hill" because it is such a peaceful, lovely setting with great river views and easy access to the river, bike paths, excellent fishing streams and miles of biking trails. Their home is only 5 miles from Hood River and 12 miles from The Dalles where good shopping, excellent food and a broad array of urban services are available. The Poveys are always available to answer questions about the area and to offer advice about Gorge adventures. They enjoy our privacy and extend that opportunity to all our guests who visit and stay on the property.
