Hosting Harmonie was a very unpleasant experience. In the morning following her first night (of two nights) stay, she made racist remarks ( similar to what she wrote in her review above) about the neighboring guests who had disturbed her sleep. I asked the guests to apologize to her, which they did (to which friendly gesture she responded very disagreeably.) I also told Harmonie that they would be leaving that day; nonetheless, five minutes later, she and her friend walked out with their suitcases, explaining that the neighborhood was too noisy for them. (It was a holiday weekend and music playing until 11:00 PM.) I made an effort to dissuade her, but she had absolutely no interest in having a discussion about it. The following evening, or 36 hours later, she wrote to ask for a refund for the night she had decided to not stay. She said she found it "normal" to get a refund, especially since they had had to pay $145 to stay in a hotel. I responded that I was unwilling to provide a refund, since they had taken off without the opportunity to figure out other options, for instance, changing rooms or helping to find her another Airbnb, or even calling Airbnb to ask them to cancel the reservation so I'd have the chance to get another reservation. Had they stayed for a few minutes to try to find a solution, I would have been very glad to offer at least half, if not all, of the money they'd paid, as I am troubled when guests are not contented with their experience.
However, once Harmonie understood that I wouldn't agree to refund her the money, she said I was "dishonest", I "lie for money", "dirty my soul for money", and "God would make me pay for it" and other such disrespectful comments.
