Le logement
In 2018 we met with our good friends Christina and Wyatt to view this property, we immediately saw what a sweet little getaway it would be for a family or for some pals needing some R&R in nature and we went about buying it that day. Then for the next year our builder- Serge, essentially REBUILT the whole cottage (he has some great stories about the unique features the original cottage had, you can ask us!) and we dreamt up what we would want the cottage to feel like when we walked in the door. We envisioned a modern clean feel, tying the wonders of nature wherever we could. We wanted to portray how cozy and quiet it can be in the colder months, with all the wonders of winter activity just outside the door. AND how vivacious and bright it is in summer months, with hours of fun on the lazy river in sun, peaceful walks in the woodlands, evening cocktails on the deck or the fire pit gazing at the stars through the towering pines. which is how we came up with our (work-in-progress) name - Whispering Pine-apple.The sounds of the pines as the wind blows through is enchanting, and our crazy bright pineapple yellow cottage that we hope will breathe joy into the days spent here.

Accès des voyageurs
The property has a driveway you can access from both sides or drive thru, as well as a little pad to park at. The property is lined with trees at the roadside for privacy with a little patch of lawn for tossing a frisbee/ball around in the warmer months, or building some epic snow forts in the winter. There is a fire pit chair riverside before it slopes down to the water and to the river. There is no public access, it is yours alone, and the land across the river is crown land (all forest and bush land) so you will only see people if they canoe/float down the river.

On the right side of the property is a small storage shed and in winter months - we store our other Airbnb trailer there. These 2 things are not accessible for guests, everything else is yours!

Autres points à prendre en note
Included with your stay in our tiny home is:
firewood for outdoor campfires
a canoe
paddles & life-jackets & water toys for water adventure
board-games and books for rainy days
our olde-but-goodie DVD collecting for in the basement
coffee, tea, sugar
olive oil, salt and pepper
stocked cleaning supplies and linens if you need
towels
beach towels

In winter: (snow-pack permitting)
crazy carpets for a great sledding hill off the West side of property

The River - in the spring this river gets very high and very fast! We close down during this time in case of road closures due to flooding. Extra care should be taken in the shoulder time around this (April and May)
In the dog days of summer the river will get very low, you may have more of a wading pool out front and will need to swim up or downstream a few metres to get a deep swim.
The Big East River drains out of Algonquin Park and other small local park lands , and as a result there is natural iron settlement in the water. You will most likely find discoloration on white clothing or bathing suits worn in the river. (Interesting fact: Iron loves sticking on to sunscreen! you may see some traces of that on our beach towels)

We came to Muskoka from Toronto in 2007 to do a show contract here and we never left! We love the area, the community, and the culture. We think there is something great to appreciate all year round here. We have 2 sons, 1 dog, and a few chickens. We love canoeing in Algonquin Park, going for nature walks, listening to music, dancing, doing yoga, big meals with our loved ones gathered around, playing cards or Catan, going to see our friends perform on stage in Toronto and Niagara, visiting our family and friends around the world, and meeting you guys on your adventures. Hope we get to cross paths one day too :)
