Spacious family room in private house 1 mile from the stunning Elan Valley dams and reservoirs. Private road with parking and views across mountainside. Next to Elan Valley Hotel and less than 3 miles from friendly market town of Rhayader.
Our family sized house has been a bit quiet lately since the children left home, so this is an opportunity for us to share it and the beautiful area we live in. We are ex-hoteliers so have experience in looking after guests and providing a warm welcome with facilities to match.
This large room can sleep 3 in a double and single bed or other options available - as a double, twin or single (pricing will vary). We also offer a double room next to this one. There are two bathrooms - one with a bath and one with a shower. One is solely for guests use.
We are situated on the doorstep of the Elan Valley in the Cambrian Mountains - offering a variety of stunning landscapes - Victorian dams and shimmering lakes, mountain tops and forests. Outdoor activities include walking, cycling (off road and local lanes and trails - just off Route 8, the Elan Valley and Trans Cambrian trails), fishing, bird watching, fungi forays, pony trekking, etc.
Bikes can be hired in Rhayader or from the Elan valley visitor centre and many activities are organised from there - birdwatching safaris, mountain walks, helicopter rides etc.
Accès des voyageurs
We provide a help yourself breakfast of muesli, cereals, juices, tea/coffee fruit and toast (with home made bread and preserves).
The rooms have hot drink making facilities and tea and home made cakes are available on arrival.
A dining area and the garden are available to you at all times.
Wi Fi access available although the signal speed here is slow – picking up e-mails is fine but don’t expect to watch i-player.
We are next to the Elan Valley Hotel with a bar and restaurant and 1 mile from the Elan Valley visitors centre with a daytime cafe and information.
The friendly market town of Rhayader is 2 and a half miles away with many pubs, cafes and shops, accessible along the Elan Valley Trail by foot or bike as well as car.
Échanges avec les voyageurs
We are naturally friendly people and will be interested in the people that come to stay and sharing our house and the area we live in, although we also respect guests privacy. You are welcome to ask us questions at any time and for local information. We can lend you maps and give advice on suggested walks or bike rides (Pippa is a keen mountain biker and Ric is a bit of a twitcher).
We will serve breakfast but you may have the house to yourself for some of the day and evenings – but you will probably be busy exploring!
As much as we love dogs we cannot provide accommodation for them as we have an elderly, very friendly staffie called Sophie and a furry ginger cat called Biscuits and their noses may be put out of joint!
We do not allow smoking in the house.

We met working in community theatre and still maintain links to theatre and the arts. We came to mid Wales to run the Elan Valley Hotel which we sold 10 years ago. Ric now works as a teaching assistant for children with additional needs and Pippa is the Manager of Rhayader Community Support - local charity supporting the community. Our son Simon lives in Bristol, (when he's not travelling) and daughter Georgia has just moved to London.
