Awaken to the morning sunrise streaming through your bedroom windows... overlooking the Gulf of Oman... and take in the natural beauty of your surroundings, and the humble people that you’ll meet along your travels.

This fully-furnished flat has everything you need as you explore this once quiet fishing village along the Sohar Corniche. Tastefully decorated with gems from Oman, India & Egypt, this is home to an expat 9 months a year.

Le logement
With 2 coffee shops outside the building-- Robusta Cafe (serves breakfast and delivers coffee right to your door!) and V60 Cafe--a 24/hours staffed-pharmacy behind your building, a friendly Iranian little grocery/convenience store who delivers just a couple blocks away, and the Fish Market and local Vegetable & Fruit market both within walking distance along the Corniche, you can experience your stay in Sohar like a local, with all the comforts of home!

You'll never go hungry as the flat is above a Yemini karak tea shop, that also serves the most delicious sweet or savory Malawach and the best Lebanese food in all of Sohar right below your window at Karam Beuruit. Sit outside and enjoy the sea breeze, or both restaurants are happy to deliver to our guests.

And for those who love to walk along a beach, or swim in open salt water, the Gulf of Oman is your natural swimming pool across the street -- especially when the tide is out! Discover sea criters and collect seashells along your beach walks, say hello to our friendly neighbors, and enjoy the sandy bottom as you wade out into deeper waters...

The queen-size bed is to soft enough to sink in, yet firm enought to ensure a good night sleep, along with your view of the Gulf of Oman!

A couple different "sitting areas" makes this 1-bedroom flat feel so much bigger. The living room sofa opens out to a sleeper sofa. An ergonomic, leaning desk for your laptop makes writing and checking emails easy with our fast-speed internet/Wi-Fi.

Although the kitchen is small, you'll find everything you need to prepare that delicious fish dinner after your trip to the local Fish Market and nearby Fruit & Vegetable market!

Most Omani homes do not have clothes dryers, as the summer heat naturally dries clothes on the drying rack, kept out in the hallway, along with my neighbors'.

My neighbors-- especially Ilya nextdoor -- are friendly expats living in the Sultanate for many years and are a great resource for your questions and ideas of what to do and see.

My regular cleaner, Alom, will make sure you arrive to a sparkling clean apartment, ready for your use! (For longer stays, you're happy to hire him to do cleaning as needed.)

Accès des voyageurs
You'll have entire flat to yourself, as well as the part of the hallway outside the door that has the clothes dryer rack for natural drying in the sun and heat!

Autres points à prendre en note
There's no dedicated parking area. Note: Please do not park in front of the building along the restaurants. You can park on the north-side of the building, or behind the building.

Sohar, Al Batinah North Governorate, Oman

As stated above, it's like you're living in a microcosm of Oman! You'll be living among friendly & helpful Omanis as well as helpful & friendly expats from various countries-- Turkish (Ilya) and Indian (Sandeep & Lalita) live next door to my flat; with Egyptians and Omanis down the hallway. The whole area of the Sohar Corniche is rich with history, and traditional restaurants (Yemini karak tea shop, Karam Beirut) coupled with the newness of designer cafes (Robusta and V60 Cafe) and trendy new restaurants (WOW, Burger & Pasta, Corniche Restaurant - with a selection of seafood to prepare as you like). Some days you'll see fishermen with their boats and their large nets bringing in their daily catch that ends up in the Fish Market... other days you'll see young, fit Omanis playing soccer on the beach at low tide!

Since October, two thousand fourteen , I've been living and working in the Middle East--most recently the last 2 years in Oman. I now divide my time between Sohar, Oman and Vashon Island, Washington, USA. I travel frequently for business and leisure myself, so I know what makes a good host! For over 16 years , I've own 2 small houses on Vashon Island, WA (a short-ferry ride from Seattle), so I know what's its like to be a homeowner & host, as well as a guest. For 6 years I ran the cottage you see here in my listing as "MiKo's Guest House" (full cabin with hot tub), to great reviews and referrals, including being "#1 on TripAdvisor for Vashon" Island during a 6-month period back in (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) ; so I appreciate excellent customer service! I stay there myself during my annual visits back to island life. The cabin and grounds nourishes my body and soul. And I can get my hands dirty in the garden, and continue to create an artful, cozy, comfortable place surrounded by nature. When I'm not at my place, I love staying at other AirBnBs around the world, for both business and leisure. I value places that are efficient, comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. I'll treat your home like I treat mine, with respect and love! Since summer of twenty-twenty, I now divide my time between Sohar, Oman and Vashon Island, Washington, USA; so when I'm not in Sohar, my comfortable, conveniently-located flat -- 1 bedroom with an additional sofa bed in the living room --overlooking the Gulf of Oman is available by the night, week or month. My helpful and knowledgeable neighbor, Ilya in flat #33, is my co-host and able to share all the wonders and not-so-easy to find gems in this former fishing village along the Sohar Corniche. I look forward to welcoming you to my homes and hospitality. Regardless where I am, I'm always a phone call or message away!

My co-host and next door neighbor in #33, Ilya--who speaks English and Turkish-- is available whenever you need anything! And my special AirBnB cleaner, June, has been trained on the new COVID-19 Cleaning Protocols, and we are committed to following them!

In addition, Ilya is available to be your personal tour guide -- for an hourly rate (ask him for details!). He can show you those hidden, hard-to-get to wadis, and iconic places in Sohar and the surrounding areas that only a resident who's lived here for years would know!
