Toriano Sanzone was dubbed “The Wolfkeeper” after he survived a near fatal car accident in 2008 in Chicago, IL. He was hospitalized for 4 months at the infamous Cook County Hospital. His determination to continue to operate his Dog Company, Sanzone School of Dog Training from his hospital bed, caused his best friend and business partner Tim Lawler to brand him “The Wolfkeeper.”
Toriano, while in the hospital, wrote his first book and semi autobiography called, “A Wolfkeeper’s Guide to Training a Dog.” Prior to writing his best selling book, Toriano worked as an assistant dog trainer at Chicago Canine Academy under the mentorship of James Morgan. He was also mentored by Master Dog Trainers, Walter Ward, Oliver Grey, Michael Straton and a host of other Chicago Powerhouse Leaders. Begining his dog training career, Toriano worked as a dog handler at “All For Doggies”, which at the time was the largest indoor Doggie Daycare facility in Chicago.
After maintaining numerous positions at a variety of top training facilities throughout the region, he decided to start his own full service Dog training facility and rented a commercial space in the Jefferson Park area of Chicago. During this 3 yr period, Toriano and his team trained over 2000 dogs.
Due to a vast increase in clientele, Mr. Sanzone relocated to the Ukranian Village area and expanded his business employing a full time team of trainers. In 2008, “The Wolfkeeper” was born as a result of 68 days in the hospital during which was dedicated to revolutionizing the world of dog training. Upon being released from the hospital, Mr Sanzone once again relocated his business and renovated a 5000 square foot warehouse into a Dog Trainer’s Dream.
Determined to find a new and innovative way to change dog training standards, he embarked on a five city summer tour where he travelled to, Miami, Mexico, Minneapolis, Brooklyn, NY, Los Angeles and San Francisco in order to research other trainers, parks, dog culture and communities throughout the United States.
