Magic house in a place that takes you to other time to be relaxed and enjoy the sea, the nature and why not the food. We recommend you to come here and enjoy this place. For sure Gilles will be glad to host you and you will be happy to be here. The house, the beach and the sunset was something special.

Fantastic house. The surroundings are beautiful and plenty to do for kids between the trampoline and kayaking. The WiFi could be faster. But overall a unique experience in a charming old house very well maintained and spotless.

This was a delightful roomy house in beautiful settings. The kitchen had everything we could have asked for and the kids loved kayaking. Fishing Creek is a very quiet place with one general store and one restaurant. A perfect venue for our needs. If we return to the eastern shore for the ironman again, we would definitely stay here again. Gilles and his wife responded very quickly to queries and are really committed to ensuring their guests have a great experience.

I really wanted to write a glowing review for this home because of its history and location, however there were a couple of things that kept me from giving it a 5 star rating. One, the "beach" in the description isn't quite what we had envisioned from the description. It is only perhaps 20 feet of seaweed covered sand that really isn't suitable for laying or relaxing on. There is however some beautiful sea glass as described. More importantly though, are the bed descriptions. The only king bed is in the master, the second bedroom has a queen (the third has twins as described). The pull out queen sofa in the living room is really not usable due to the current condition of the mattress. Even small children will feel the bed frame through it. We had to put the futon mattress on top of the pull out mattress to make it comfortable to sleep on. Having said that, other than those two misrepresentations, the house is truly a historic beauty. Our family loved celebrating a birthday together on the island. There is a trampoline and tire swing for the kids, and plenty of kid friendly dvds and games. The huge yard made for lots of room to run....and we were blessed to see a momma dear and her twin fawns wander through, stop to check us out, then continue on their way. The kitchen has all the utensils and cooking equipment needed for prepping meals and the (URL HIDDEN) a dream come true for avid chefs!!! Gilles was super accommodating and flexible about our check-in time. And his neighbors, Susan and Carl, are exceptionally warm, friendly, informative and willing to help in any way they can. The wonderful memories made over the long weekend FAR outweigh any disappointment in the beach and pull-out couch!

The Eastern Shore is a beautiful place to visit, and this house is a real gem. We really enjoyed our stay here over Thanksgiving weekend. Because it has so many different rooms and places to hang out, the house makes a great place for a group to stay. Gilles was a helpful host, providing lots of advice on things to see and do in the area. He was also very helpful when I called in a panic Thanksgiving day because I couldn't figure out how to light the fancy Italian oven. One thing that would be helpful, since guests are asked to take their garbage and recyclables with them when they leave, would be to provide some direction on where to take these items. We drove for quite a long while before we discovered a public dumpster/recycling station. There seem to be a number of these around this part of MD, but they're hard to find if you're not familiar with the area.

A group of 9 of us recently stayed at Gilles' house and we had a wonderful time. The house is certainly in a beautiful setting - right on the bay! The house itself had all of character and charm that you'd expect from an old farmhouse. There isn't central AC but there were plenty of window units and they were all in working order. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed to prep meals. There was more than enough room for all of us. Though there are three "true" bedrooms upstairs, the den area (where there was a sleeper sofa) was huge and off to the side of the house, making it very private and a great sleeping option. The sleeping porch also had a very comfortable futon. The house is in a more remote part of the Chesapeake Bay (not too much in terms of shopping/restaurants in the immediate vicinity), but that made it a pretty peaceful, calm place for a getaway. There is one restaurant nearby (Old Saltys) that was great - definitely check it out! One other tip - we chartered a boat from Sawyer Charters (boat docks ~25 min drive from the house) and had a wonderful time sailing the bay. As for things to do at the house, it was well equipped with both kayaks and games. Gilles was friendly and responsive throughout the reservation process and throughout our stay!

Our family loves unwinding at Hoopers Hill, whether it is fishing off the shoreline, picking pecans or persimmons, collecting sea glass or arrowheads on our beach, lounging in the sun, playing games outside or inside (booo, only if raining). We reconnect as a family in this idyllic place.
