David and LaVonne both met us upon arrival and were available at anytime for any concerns / questions. The Barn Apartment is perfectly set up for a romantic getaway. It has a great efficient kitchen as well as bathroom and laundry. The views from the deck and sitting room are fantastic - right up the Columbia Corridor - in fact you can see the bridge between Hood River and White Salmon. The property is more like a park with trails up into the hill behind and down to the Mosier Creek below. We will definitely be back!

Pictures don't do it justice. The view was incredible and it is so nice to get away from it all here.

This was our 3rd consecutive annual visit to David and LaVonne's wonderful spot for our anniversary. There are many reasons why we keep returning- the cozy apartment, stunning views, quiet solitude and kindness of the two of them. We look forward to next year!

We had a geat stay at David & LaVonne's barn apartment! Beautiful views of the gorge from the front porch, quiet and secluded but only 10 minutes from Hood River, the location was perfect. Great hosts!

Réponse de David & LaVonne :
A nearby 43,000 acre forest fire that had been burning for nearly two weeks created dense smoke that significantly reduced effective TV signal transmission. A number of our guests chose to avoid the the widely publicized fire and canceled their reservations because of smoke-related health and diminished opportunities for recreation enjoyment. Phone calls and/or text message contact was made by the hosts with guests to confirm their continued intention to stay on our property during this event. We made no specific reference to TV reception.

David and LaVonne are very kind hosts, and Max (the dog) is a wonderful ambassador! The location is a convenient short drive from Hood River and everything else that the Gorge has to offer. The pool is a nice little bonus on hot summer days. It is well worth the stay. Enjoy!

David and Lavonne are retired educators. David was a University Professor in Community & Regional Planning. Lavonne was a Primary School teacher. They both enjoy skiing and for their first 14 years of retirement they taught skiing in Sun Valley, Idaho.
When they retired (2000) they sold their family home in Eugene, Or. and moved to the Columbia River Gorge for more sunshine, windsurfing, skiing, fishing, biking and outdoor work tending their 7.5 acres of cherry orchard and natural growth Pine and Oak trees. To support their love for outdoor activities and continue to improve their Mosier acreage they rent two independent lodging spaces separate from their Main House to seasonal visitors to the Columbia River Gorge. Over the years their renters have become part of their "family" with whom they keep in touch in the off-season months.
The Poveys love "their place on the hill" because it is such a peaceful, lovely setting with great river views and easy access to the river, bike paths, excellent fishing streams and miles of biking trails. Their home is only 5 miles from Hood River and 12 miles from The Dalles where good shopping, excellent food and a broad array of urban services are available. The Poveys are always available to answer questions about the area and to offer advice about Gorge adventures. They enjoy our privacy and extend that opportunity to all our guests who visit and stay on the property.
