If you are searching for a place to stay in Tampere, stop what you are doing right now, and book this listing. This is an ultra modern, two-story condominium right on the water, with a wall of windows that give a gorgeous view of the lake and passersby. The place is absolutely immaculate, and suggests an almost fanatical devotion to cleanliness. Mika mentioned that it was built in 2009, but by all appearances it could have been finished yesterday. There is not a single scuff on the floor, mark on the windows, or anything else that would suggest another human being has lived here. Nevertheless, it is warm, bright and inviting. Mika stocked the refrigerator with essentials and left us a fruit basket—very nice.
The location could not be better. It is a quiet, peaceful area, but only a couple of minutes to walk to the great restaurants and shops on the other side of the pedestrian bridge that spans the river.
There are three bedrooms upstairs, along with a full bath and half-bath (all the baths are appointed with the highest quality materials—heavy stainless fixtures and tile that looks like it was installed this morning). We were only three people, so we did not come close to filling up the place. The downstairs has a common area, dining table and separate kitchen, along with the fourth bedroom, and another bathroom. The awesome sauna suite is not to be missed on any account, and is equipped with a double shower system that delivers instant hot water.
Private outdoor patio, with grill and seating. Separate “people watching” area facing the lake. Electronic shutter system is easy to use, and gives total privacy when you want it. Siemens side-by-side fridge. Coffee maker and coffee. Rock solid wifi. Strong security measures with heavy doors.
Mika is a kind and generous host. He did not have guests coming in after us, so he let us check out late. Also, while he may not always let people do it, he gave us his underground parking spot, which was very nice because would otherwise be difficult.
I have stayed in Tampere many times, always in a hotel. Never again. I want to live in Mika’s place. You will, too.
