We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Dorado unit at Brisas Carizalillo. Laura, her family & staff are lovely, friendly people. Communication before and during our stay was excellent. Laura was quick to provide us with any little extras that we requested to make our stay more comfortable. The unit was bright, spacious and extremely clean thanks to the housekeeper Alejandra - she does an amazing job! She came twice a week to clean and change linens/towels and also kept the whole complex squeaky clean :)
The kitchen was well equipped for cooking and had a full-size refrigerator/freezer. Hot water was present at all times in the kitchen and bathroom. The beds were firm but comfortable and the fans in every room were enough to keep us cool most times. Aside from a couple of nights where it was extremely humid, we weren't bothered that there was no air-conditioning. Wifi was pretty good and we were able to (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) most days with family and friends back home. The cable (Sky) TV had some English movies, plenty of sports channels, and a couple of American news channels to enjoy.
The pool was refreshing to pop into and was always kept clean. We enjoyed spending time on the communal palapa where we could watch the sunset and also relax on the hammocks. There was also a big briquette bbq and a beautiful, large wooden table and dining chairs so you could have dinner up there. We would buy whole fresh fish off the boats in Bahia Principal, get some ingredients from the main mercado and grill up some fantastic dinners.
The safe and secure complex is located right on the Riconada. I believe there are a few long-term residents that occupy a few units and it is also nice to know that the owners & caretakers are on-site 24/7. Even though there are many restaurants and cafes just outside the door, the apartment is nice and quiet and provided us with peaceful sleeps. We found the location excellent. Carizalillo beach is right across the street and Manzanillo & Bococho beaches are within walking distance as well as Centro and the main Mercado. If you love walking, Bahia Principal, Zicatela and La Punta are all walkable but if it is too much for you, taxis are always available or you can walk a bit up to the main road to catch a Collectivo.
We enjoyed our stay so much that we wound up extending for another month in a different unit on the bottom floor (Dorado was already booked). It was slightly smaller than the upper floor units but was just as comfortable and had the bonus of the pool being right outside our patio door.
We highly recommend this accommodation. Muchas gracias Laura and everyone for making our stay in Puerto Escondido just fabulous!
