Our stay in Calca, at David's place was fantastic. We were warmly welcomed. The property is large, beautiful and very comfortable. The room in which we stayed was quite big and had very hot water (a luxury in most parts of Peru). We would love to have stayed for a few days or longer but unfortunately had only booked for 1 night! We hope to be back in this quiet, friendly town and to be able to stay at David's place again. Thank you!

Should I write about the people or the place? Can I separate the two? I don't think I can. For me, Casa Willkamayo was warmth, contentment, and belonging. If that's what you're looking for, read no more, just book. If, however, you'd like a few more details to help you decide, I'm happy to oblige. Room 5 is spacious and airy with windows on three walls, all with a view to the mountains. The bathroom is brand spanking new with a hot-and I mean hot-shower with great pressure. There's a reading lamp to read yourself to sleep, a desk to write down your thoughts, and plenty of outlets to charge your camera batteries. The balcony is a perfect place to sit and watch the constellations rise over the mountains. The shared spaces are equally homey. The garden is even better than pictured; pictures can't contain the whirr of a hummingbird's wing or the scent of a rose. The shared kitchen is well equipped and the perfect excuse for a shopping trip to Calca's marvellous market. And you can enjoy it all in clean clothes thanks to the free self-serve laundry. But this is only half the story. The rest is David, Mabel, Fenn, and Helena. David's books and knowledge, Mabel's baked treats, Fenn's curiosity and creativity, Helena's laughter aren't service, they're connection. You can find a brilliant place to stay at Casa Willkamayo, but if you want, you can find much, much more.

Our stay at David's was exceptional! We had everything we needed and more. . Amazing company, a beautiful space with the most well equiped kitchen, good advice and tasty pears and avocados :) I'd recommend David's place to anyone looking to relax and share great conversation or who wants a good home base to explore the Valley

Loved staying here - highly recommended for a delightful stay in the Sacred Valley. The beautiful garden is a repose for the soul. Mabel and David are warm, helpful and interesting - it's like staying with old friends. Loved Casita 5, with its 3 big windows with wonderful views. Particularly loved waking up to views of the garden and mountain ranges. Calca is very 'local' and not touristy. Pisac - an easy 15-20 mins (2 sole!) ride on the very regular collectivos (never seemed to wait more than a minute!) has more eating options than Calca (eg Ulrike's Cafe) but I enjoyed coming back to the 'real' town of Calca. Highlights in Calca were Mabel and David recommendations: the local market, a foodie's heaven; sitting in the garden at Apolo having delicious cerviche; and above all a moto trip to Urqo for a walk to the archaeological site and Inka museum. It was hard to find the path at Urqo at first, but once we did it was a splendid walk through a beautiful landscape. We ambled for about an hour before reaching the Inka museum, though you could do it much quicker if you wanted. Take plenty of water - very dry air! Next time would be interested in the Apulaya school. Thanks again David and Mabel for a delightful stay.

This is not just a rental property but also an oasis of healing and serendipity. Prepare to be loved by the kindest and most supportive family you may ever meet. The views are breathtaking. The rooms are gorgeous. The garden is splendid. The community is connected. The company is unforgettable. The Sacred Valley may change your life. I booked for a week and wished that I had booked two. You will not regret staying with David and Mavi. It was fabulous!
