Set close to the main house in breathtaking countryside. Perfect country to explore on foot or by bicycle along the Kennet and Avon Canal or National Cycle route 4. Only 6 mins to Junction 14 of M4 and good internet for business users. It's more shabby chic than luxury as we sadly don't have an open fire but underfloor heating, good beds and great views. Kids love playing football and others table tennis.

Le logement
A barn conversation with high ceilings.
One large double and one small/child single
Double doors open onto your own terrace for breakfast or suppers. Our best feature is the garden and surrounding area. The garden is great too for picnics so you can just move tables around and dine in open countryside.
The main double bedroom is a good size the smaller single is small, so be aware if you want two similar sized rooms the single has a normal sized comfortable bed but no wardrobe, just hangers for your use. A cot and high chair can be provided on request but please bring your baby's linen and cot mattress. We have a flat screen and DVD machine but please bring those otherwise we have a Chromecast streaming system for you to link to your own home accounts. Internet is good here as we are on cable so great for business users or school needs. The barn is small for 3 adults for a long stay due to the second bedroom but we have so much outside space that no one has minded this. We only want you to have a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Pour vous situer

Hungerford, Angleterre, Royaume-Uni

We are wonderfully situated for the historic towns of Hungerford and Marlborough but easy distance to Newbury, Andover and Swindon, all about 30 mins from us.
Open countryside with good walks, wonderful pubs, good restaurants and wonderful cycle routes. It feels like being on holiday every day.
There is a local swimming pool and a tennis court 6 mins drive away. If you like the theatre there is the wonderful Watermill in Bagnor (20 mins) and the Marlborough summer school which offers people classes in a variety of skills as well as concerts and exhibitions. At Easter the Newbury Spring Festival is wonderful and the bookshop in Hungerford are always holding literary events. In Great Bedwyn the local shop and post office offers delicious bread which can also be ordered. Cobbs our local shop is a first rate Farm Shop with in the summer months, "pick your own" and all year round truly delicious cheese counter, butcher, fishmonger and florist - if you time your visit you might find they are holding an open air cinema event. In Hungerford the shops are great too with White Coco, Libby Blackley, Roxtons and Bow House designs. Antiques are a huge draw in Hungerford with lots of shops and an antique parade.
There is a Catholic Church in Hungerford as well as CofE and many other faith churches.
Highclere is close by (20 mins) as is the Sandham Memorial Chapel where you can see the stunning Stanley Spencer murals. Wolf Hall, although private flats now, it is possible to view from the outside and it still gives one a good impression of Henry VIII meeting Jane Seymour - it is about 15 mins away from here. Crofton Mill on the Kennet and Avon canal is a steam (beam) engine still working today and has been for 200 years. You can get to it by following the towpath a little walk from the end of our drive.
Please don't forget Savernake Forest which is always open and is 4500 acres, only 4 miles away. There are many paths to walk down and few people so it really is a perfect retreat and one feels the sense of history in the surrounding trees. Or even better visit in bluebell season where carpets stretch out and the smell is incredible. We also have lovely walks from the house to Ramsbury pub, the Bell through hills and valleys. We definitely love our countryside here!

I am a mother and a fine art photographer but because I freelance I am not oftern around. The area holds lots of attractions, from music in the spring festival in Newbury, the Marlborough summer school and lots of artists around having exhibitions, let alone the antiques in Hungerford which can be very good value and is a very pretty town. Avebury is close to us which is world heritage site with magnificent standing stones. Longleat is about 1 hour away which is great for children. Two fields away is Cobbs Farm shop which not only has organic food but a soft play area and in the summer, pick your own. The landscape around is stunning with lovely walks along the Kennet and Avon canal which is short walk from the house.
